As some here mentioned fair play to Tally/Boyler /whoever for the tightening, tweaking of our defense game by game. Yesterday they were superb and also to our s&c team who have us injury free and bursting with energy... while the Louth lads were cramping up at the finish our fellas, especially Ryan who had our in an unbelievable shift still had energy enough to thump over that bomb and looked like there was still huge reserves in the tank.

I was (very) quietly confident but didn't see that coming at all.
Yes, Louth were flat and never got going but from watching it, we never let them. The tackling and intensity was ferocious and that was from everyone. That's a systems piece and management deserve huge credit for it. Haven't seen that level of tackling in years from us.
The occasion was class - the weather was gorgeous and fans of all four counties were in flying form in and around the ground. The Louth fans brought so much colour and noise and we were outnumbered as far as I could tell.
Greater credit must go to the Wicklow fans who, in spite of much smaller numbers, seemed to be the loudest in the house when they started their comeback.
I missed days like yesterday so much. That feeling of walking towards the stadium and the giddy atmosphere around the place is inexplicable and by God if you could just bottle that, you'd make a fortune.

After that Roscommon game, we've improved week-on-week.
At some point, pundits might have to start giving us credit (but maybe not until Monday 27) rather than we beat Meath because they had a man sent off, Cork never showed up, Louth never showed up etc.
Yes, the ultimate test lies ahead with winners of today's game.
Will we be rank outsiders? Yes.
Could we get badly beaten? Yes but I doubt it.
Could we also win? Yes, we can. We'd need a lot of things to fall into place but why not?

That Mayo team won't be rank outsiders whichever team makes the final today. How could they be after that comprehensive display yesterday? The lads were supreme in most areas bar a few midfield blips. Louth weren't permitted any breathing space, were ferociously pressurised at every juncture, and couldn't live with Mayo's dynamism or conditioning. I'm hoping Dublin but I'm very doubtful it'll be.

Andy’s comments and response to the question regarding Mayo fans and the hype for the next 2 weeks is perfect.

He really has bridged the gap between the supporters and the team and got everyone back on board and backing each other, the team and supporters have the connection we lost in 2021 back.

We are blessed to have him lead the charge and many wanted him gone earlier in the year.

Glorious, glorious, glorious. I must have rewatched it about 5 times today. Each time it gets better. I will get caught up in the hype and believe we can win it and don’t care what any media, or any outsider thinks of it. Sport is there to enjoy. Yesterday was a team and management operating to their potential.

The tactics were excellent, the work on the press in the two weeks was brilliant. Our defensive structure was excellent. Flynn and Tuohy deserve special praise I think, they have sacrificed a lot of their game to the benefit of the team.

McHugh is some animal at the back, he gives us a great solid platform along with Livingstone commanding his area. Our half back line was excellent, a huge platform for us to build upon and Sam was once again excellent in winning turnovers. Boyler and Tally doing excellent work you’d imagine.

Our midfield is doing a power of work. The structure continues to improve and we are now looking to move the ball forward as quick as we can.

Credit to the lads on the bench, the competition for the 26 must be fascinating to watch in training. Loftus, McHale and Conroy were brilliant when introduced. Loftus hit some very accurate long passes straight to chest. Conroy just causes panic and McHale might be the only

The rating of Coen was based on the fact he was rounded in one to one situations on a couple of occasions in the first half and both resulted in two pointers. Its a problem that needs to be addressed for sure.

I am pleased to be in another final but not surprised.We have been closer to the level than we were given credit for ovr tge last few years with lesser forwards.We came out on the wrong side of 2 big games v Galway and One against Dublin and Donegal over the last few years and in McStay year one we won the league and except for that unfathomable collaspe vCork in Limerick woukd have won our group stage having beat Kerry in Killarney which i think was their first loss in 30 years there...so we were under rated i think.Any of the top 8 can get to a final and we often do .....so every year i have planned holiday around being in Ireland for Semi and Final.....this year the same....goung away on August 6th.....if your inthebusiness of following Mayo which i have been its just not sensible to do anything else around this time of year

The commentary after the match is a useful insight into the mindset of management and players. Andy has a wonderful attitude. He empowers the players. He loves them all and they love him. They would die for him and Mayo. He loves the game but most of all he loves the Mayo fans and people. That is a powerful mix. But all of that is tempered by a realism that to win you have to work hard. And this team is a hard working team. You could say anything to Andy and he will take it on the chin. But say anything about the lads and the fans he will cut you off at the knees. I think the press saw the steel under the soft exterior yesterday. When Ryan O'Donoghue commented that it was great craic out there yesterday we saw a team that is enjoying their football. It will take a very good team to beat this Mayo team.

Well done and a fabulous result. I wont be getting carried away but will enjoy it. I do think Kerry if they win the same amount of our kick out as Louth did they will make hay on it, its our biggest problem all championship...

One thing that pleases me is that although we won well, there is still work to do. We are going into a final with still some improvements to be made and that's always a good thing. I still think we haven't peaked.

Having been in from before the 1st game started, I knew how big a factor that wind was and was reckoning before HT that it was worth 6 points. Being 4 up at HT, I was very confident. You still have to score them though and boy did our bucks rise to the challenge. What a great day.
In McGraths afterwards, someone asked me if I was worried about the final. My answer was that any worrying will be suspended until the last 10 minutes of that game and that I'm going to enjoy the next two weeks no matter what.

I would add that I always believe in a lucky general and especially one who works hard with the luck that is given freely if not sparsely in the past in our case. Just a suggestion can the Mayo Board ensure that the young people get tickets for the final, i was in the Hill yesterday and I never seen anything like it, all young people that have that belief that we older guys are lacking, seen too many defeats to be a tiny bit hopeful that the job can be done.

Jesus, it’s good to be back. What an occasion yesterday, what a spectacle, even if we were outnumbered 60/40 or more in support.

I’m trying to put my finger on where exactly we won it. Watched it back and the first half was tremendous. The pundits, Cavanagh and Fenton, felt it hard to call, and slightly favoured Louth I felt. My impression was that the third goal came shortly after half time, but it didn’t, and we didn’t shoot the lights out. We didn’t win a huge amount of primary possession in that phase either. So, what exactly? Tommy I think was a game changer; Paul T was hitting long ball and linking, Tommy was breaking lines and hearts and throwing something completely different at Louth. That and the hits and strips. Reminded me of Salthill in 2013. Galway that day had some monsters but we tamed them, and yesterday was the same - I saw Sam Mulroy on his knees at one stage, and he looked a broken man.

@Pepsi I totally agree.. if it’s Dublin that we end up facing there needs to be a fair split of tickets for the Hill and Mayo supporters should not be corralled into the side like has happened in the past. The hill is a terrace with more affordable tickets and should be available to all. On a side note, is anyone else feeling queasy today after all the flares yesterday? I’ve had splitting headache and sick all night and all I could taste was sulphur! 100% agree, Pepsi. Every effort should be made to get the young Mayo fans who have been driving the atmosphere at games onto the Hill for the final. They’ve created an incredible buzz, and the players have clearly fed off that energy.

The county board and clubs in Mayo should be prioritising these supporters. Unfortunately, the reality with the GAA is that plenty of people who haven’t been at a game since the 2021 final will still end up with tickets, while many who have followed this team through the highs and lows over the past few years may miss out. It’s just the way the system works.

In fairness to Andy and co. I think they are critically analysing performances from game to game, identifying shortfalls, and targeting areas of improvement.
That's the reason we are seeing progressive performances from game to game. And the levels of fitness are off the charts. Louth were totally gassed midway through the second half yesterday.

We supporters have a big part to play on all ireland final day. We have agreat team to support. A plea should be made to the supporters that if they are not going to shout their heads off to watch the match in mayo and give the tickets to the shouters. Mayo clubs know who the vocal supporters are and they should get the tickets this year.

Lovely morning here in the Garden County. Lots of hungover but happy Wicklow people buzzing after yesterday. Delighted we're heading for another final. What will be will be. But no one else bar Mayo can tear up the script now.

What an occasion in Croke Park. The supporters have been in a depressing trough in the years since 2021 but the team have shaken us out of our stupor and how sweet it is to be back at the big table, with all the craic and buzz and excitement that goes with it. Great to see our young Mayo fans make themselves seen and heard in Dublin yesterday. We didn't realise how good we had it during the 10s era and perhaps we will never have it as good again but we should savour these days as best we can, who knows when we will be back again in an AI final. Andy Moran was dead right to respond to John Fogarty as he did. We should pay no mind to bitter resentful people who begrudge Mayo fans the excitement and craic of the build-up to a final. What the hell is the point of supporting a football team, one that represents our entire county and people, if we cannot enjoy the lead-up to a final. I for one will not be painting any sheep but I will be rummaging through the garage and pulling out the flag that I last put up outside my house in 2021. Enjoy these weeks as best we can. The team will be laser focused on ending the 75 year famine, they will do their utmost and we as supporters should do our bit. Get to Dublin in two-weeks time and shout and roar the team on until our voices are gone.

I can't recall a more dominant second-half in a long time. I thought the top two performers for MOTM were fairly obvious but honestly could have named about 10 more who I could have made an argument for. McBrien is a worthy POTM as his aggression in the tackles and turnovers were something to behold. Louth were shellshocked at the pressure they were put under in the attacking space. We simply did not give them an inch and the bad wides they shot said it all. Sam Callinan immense going forward and carrying the ball. Tommy Conroy is looking unplayable. Special mention to Paul Towey who set up the goal for Ryan and took a score for himself.

Dublin or Kerry, we will face a formidable opponent in the final but whoever wins today will equally face a formidable opponent. Up Mayo!

@Plunkett, I hear what you’re saying regarding a sense of disbelief that we have got as far as the final. A few factors contribute this:
1. Our refusal to acknowledge the potential of the team in the earlier rounds.
2. The compressed championship calendar that deprives us of the opportunity to reflect on the wins and the time to look forward to the next game, to chat and to speculate.
We have never had the caliber of forwards that we have right now. All 9 that featured yesterday acquitted themselves well. If we can tidy up on the kick outs, we’ve a good chance.

@glorydays, good man. The kerrymen weren't praying anyway. I honestly hope it's Dublin too because of the nature of their play. Kerry are a hard animal to put down in a final though.

A thing I found massively encouraging yesterday is we made tons of mistakes but it didn't seem to faze them. Both Darragh and Kobe for example made several mistakes but still ended with huge contributions. In the past, mistakes like dropping it into the keeper's hands or bad sides have sucked the life out of the team. Please God they can carry that attitude into the final. BTW, I can't think of a single bad thing Ryan did. Be really deserved a 10 for that performance.

I would love to see highlights given dubious calls referenced above. It appears the refs are deciding matches this year and that's a very bad look for the GAA. Kerry will get all the calls in the final lads, I hope Mayo can do it but another iffy ref and ye are up against it. Baking here, 8pm and roasting hot, I would kill for a cool Irish May day.

One wonders why Hawkeye can’t also be applied to goal line decisions as well as point attempts? Because that ball was well behind the line (Kerry defender being a foot behind the goal line), and if you have fellas out breaking their nads training for over half the year, it seems only fair to check something like that.

They don't normally give the final to either of the semi final referees as far as I'm aware?

Well just back from the game today, few takes. Umpires are a joke, at one stage the one in front of us at the Hill end was scrolling in his phone during the game. Ger Brennan has called for goal line technology, wonder people's take on that. In saying that we kicked a lot of wides and on that probably didn't deserve to go through. David Clifford movement off the ball is ridiculous, he's a nightmare to mark. But Kerry are certainly not a one man team. Final point Mayo have no reason to fear this Kerry team. Your forward line is more efficient then ours and if you go at Kerry you could finally get the Holy Grail. Hoping for a good final, and hope Mayo finally do it

The voice is still gone, unreal atmosphere in the Hill yesterday. The Louth supporters were class well. Great occasion and can now look forward to another final.
