Does anyone know where you can get a list of upcoming matches on Mayo GAA TV? I signed up for season pass but the mobile site is pretty poor and can’t locate up to date stuff. When you click on Upcoming games it’s listed 2017 and the matches are 2023 championship games !?

Mayonaze. Click on any shown march eg. Charlestown v Ballyhaunis where it says "read more". It will then take you to the upcoming games. It could be more user friendly for sure.

Anyone that’s tuning in to hollymount carramore v davitts tonight here’s a few players to watch out for
Dylan Gallagher (Davitts)
Niall treacy (Davitts)
Fenton Kelly (Davitts)
Jack Melvin (Davitts)
Jack Keane (Hollymount carramore)
I would anticipate Stephen coen will go into midfield to accompany Jack Keane and try and stop the midfield powerhouses of Kelly and Melvin.
I was very impressed with treacy Versus kiltimagh his raw power and pace caused them a world of trouble
And everything that Dylan Gallagher seems to shoot turns to gold

M

Mayogodeo says:

Jack Keane would have been on the mayo minors when we got to the 2022 all Ireland final.
His athleticism and football IQ has always impressed me.

I’d have said Nathan Moran best player on pitch.boyler Jd a good second half but was sloppy in first half.good game in the conditions.fair play to davitts digging it out in end

T

The New Departure says:

September 13, 2024 at 9:46 pm

Hard to make much out out of the game. I was listening about this exiciting young davitts team colm boyle there best player by a mile and they bought on mcnamara and conroy. i think they had another player over 35. where are all the young players. scored 1 point from play in the 2nd half.
Hollymount done well considering all the injuries and players gone away. Keane and Moran good players but in and out of the game. coen largely anonymous compared to boyle. Holly nothing up front and took off there half back after scoring a point strange move.
Mayo Management move on nothing to see here.unless your mayo over 40's management

S

Southmayo Exile says:

Agree new departure - expected more from Davitts. I know conditions were poor but any player even close to county standard should be able to rise above the conditions.

M

Mayogodeo says:

September 13, 2024 at 11:24 pm

The new departure and south mayo exile
Jack Keane hit 1-2 he’s 19
Dylan Gallagher hit 4 points he’s also 19
Jack Melvin and Fenton kelly drove davitts on towards the end with Colm Boyle
I think your being ever so slightly harsh on the youth here..It was a war of atttition wasn’t a game for nice football..My opinion of course

M

Mayo for Life says:

September 14, 2024 at 12:24 am

Davitts won’t care it was a poor spectacle on a terrible evening for football but they will know they have to improve if they wish to progress. HollyCarra will be kicking themselves they left it behind them , and Nathan Moran was in my view the outstanding player on the pitch all evening . Dylan Gallagher was also excellent and scored 5 excellent points in very testing conditions , without him Davitts would not be in the Q final. Both teams will have to improve significantly if they want to progress to senior ranks in the near future. Finally thoughg HollyCarra can feel unlucky a couple of key decisions went against them and they could also have had a penalty in the second half.

C

Cp says:

Agreed Mayogodeo. You can’t judge anyone off those conditions

M

Mayonaze says:

September 14, 2024 at 3:48 am

I’d agree. Slippy wet conditions tough gone to really impose yourself, especially if you’re a forward. Gallagher kicked some nice scores. He knows where the posts are, I’d like to see him impose himself even more on the game but he has potential if he continues to work hard.

J

Jack Keane scored an excellent goal if you look at his full play for the goal.

J

JoeG says:

September 14, 2024 at 7:30 am

Shouldn't be hard on any player for not standing out last night. If you come into a game, especially a local Derby with a budding reputation there will be a plan in place to limit you. Considering the conditions and the way both teams cancelled each other out it made it more of an arm wrestle and especially the young players will learn from this type of struggle. Fair play to MayoGaaTV for streaming it.

Jack Keane played well but couldn't make the mayo u20s panel last year, and they were shocking, let's not overreact.

M

Mayonaze says:

September 14, 2024 at 3:16 pm

@Retro….I don’t know Jack at all, but I think it’s widely known that there were many players not involved with the 20’s last year, who should really have been. Some of the omissions from the panel were baffling, to say the least!! We had no one in midfield to win a ball! Let’s not get started about the 20’s…it was a disastrous season.

Drama in group 1 of senior and group 3 of intermediate.
Breaffy beat aghamore by 7 and tubber beat Kilmeena by 2 to put Ballintubber and aghamore level on score difference but Ballintubber go through on basis of scoring more!!!!
Kiltane draw with ballinrobe to knock Parke out!the erris men surprise package of championship after losing to kilmaine by 6.no one will fancy getting them in the qf

O

Matthew ruanes point In the 65th minute literally the last kick of the game sent ballintubber through not sure how he will feel about that haha and kiltane kick 2 points in the last minute to go through on head to head over parke.

M

Mayonaze says:

September 14, 2024 at 5:42 pm

Cp really exciting…I’m glad to see Ballintubber thru, if that’s the case. Cillian was by all accounts, on song today and he deserves another game.

I don’t think any team at home versus Kiltane will be overly concerned be that Moy Davitts, Davitts… Kiltane could shake up whoever emerges from the other group tho and fair play to them today. Ballinrobe weren’t great. They don’t have reliable enough forwards and they’re not incredibly strong in the middle either. What they do have is a solid defence and a lot of pace.

Fair play to Breaffy. Really mature championship for them so far. Deane doing a very good job.

M

Mayonaze says:

September 14, 2024 at 5:44 pm

I’ve heard those Conway lads for Ballycroy have been tearing up the junior championship. It’s such a shame talented players in smaller junior clubs are at such an incredible disadvantage. It’s hugely detrimental to Mayo. Why can’t we do what Kerry do and get a flippin divisional system. It’s madness

N

No white feather. says:

September 14, 2024 at 5:58 pm

Aghamore got the first 3 points of the second half to reduce the deficit to one point. They looked a good bet to win it from there with the strong wind behind them. However, they didn’t score for the rest of the match and Breaffy scored the last six. If its through that Aghamore lose out because of scoring less than Ballintubber , its a real sickner for them. Aidan O’Shea excellent again today.

G

Gizmobobs says:

September 14, 2024 at 6:26 pm

Parke out on head to head v Kiltane.
A draw in Ballinrobe where Kiltane surged back with 3 points for a draw in the last 2 minutes which puts both through and Ballinrobe top, not at all suspicious ?
Ballinrobe 0-10
Kiltane 1-07

Charlestown only 4pts in first have to Garrymores 2-06 looks to have them on ropes.

Understand the clubs themselves may not be as gone on the divisional team set up Kerry have, but I'm obviously a long ways away from it. Would be great to see it as a fan though. Way to get additional conditioning / focus into talented players from smaller clubs, and additional spice to the season's no bad thing at all.

From the ones involved in the club scene on here, would there be much interest in it, has it been raised recently as a real prospect?

R

Retrocut says:

John McMonagle performance of weekend so far. Only 18 but by all reports has been Mitchels best player this championship.
Paddy heneghan with two goals (second one was a cracker) but Ballyhaunis will be very disappointed to concede a soft goal minutes after getting a goal to go one ahead with know 13 ish remaining
Mitchels to their credit tried to play decent football in second half

Towey excellent for Charlestown again. Another four from play. He roasted for Hession for two of them.

S

Southmayo Exile says:

September 14, 2024 at 9:50 pm

From what Im hearing the interest in the divisional system in Kerry is waning fast. Club is where its at down there. The division teams are starting the county championship this week and most divisions have only had 2-3 trainings in the kast week in advance. Thats not much good to a junior player trying to make a mark.
Player burnout becoming an jssue down there as well - Clifford's played 5 championship games 5 weeks in a row with thier club Fossa and face probably 5 more games in the next 6-7 weeks with East Kerry
Their county intermediate final ended in a draw last Sunday and that replay is not been played for another 8 weeks. Their county junior semifinals were played last Sunday and final won't be played for 8 weeks. Would club players in Mayo be happy with that.

Aido is great and is what is driving Breaffy on. It will be sad day when he hangs up his boots as others have said.

Be interesting to see the result of tommorow westport were on fire during the league and won it well but Ballina seem to be peaking at the right time and won't let go to easily heart says Ballina but I think it'll be a close contest!

It's really been such a better more entertaining club season then last year don't know why but hope it continues..!

J

JoeG says:

September 15, 2024 at 8:52 am

Gutted that Aghamore are finished for the year. When we got back in touch I thought we'd be able to at least get away with a narrow defeat if not winning it but that's football I guess. AOS really hurt us yesterday.
Watched the Garrymore/Charlestown game last night and Mike calling the Charlestown midfielder as Patrick Golden and again on the roundup pod. I know the programme had him named as Golden but is that not Paddy Goldrick?

C

Culmore says:

September 15, 2024 at 11:18 am

Towey seems to be able to score from play, something very lacking from most of Mayo players for years. Some people say he is lacking in height and strength, well Martin McHugh ,Peter Canavan and Mickey Sheehy wernt big men. If he can score from play then he deserves a good run on the team for league next year, not just last 5 to 10 minutes at end of game on a wet windy day when the game is either won or lost at that stage. Give the man
a real chance and then we will know if he is good enough.

G

Green&Red says:

September 15, 2024 at 12:36 pm

Clumore, I agree Towey should be given a consistent run of games next year. I made the point last year that during the league he should have started every game unless performance is absolutely terrible. Little evidence to suggest that would happen. How many minutes did he get in championship? And was then thrown in in ET to save us against Derry and kicked a massive point. In fairness I used to think Jordan Flynn wouldn’t cut the mustard with Mayo but JH persisted with him and proved us wrong.

Now in the same breath I wouldn’t ever be comparing Towey to Canavan. I agree with the point your making about height and size but Canavan along with Brian Fenton are the two greatest footballers I’ve ever seen, and they couldn’t be more different in size.

I expect both Westport and ballina will be on the cautious side today. Neither willing to reveal their full hand. Nevertheless a win is a psychological advantage down the line, great teams win anything that's put in front of them.
I am very impressed with Oisín McLaughlin as an impact sub. He has worked hard on his game and is not settling for living in the shadow of his siblings...

F

FrostTHammer says:

With the split season could we do the divisional teams thing in the spring and summer?

Divide the county into regions, exclude the lads playing intercounty, and have them play each other in a rough imitation of the intercounty season.

G

Gizmobobs says:

September 15, 2024 at 1:44 pm

Westport on good day can be great with their speed, today is shadow boxing scenario. Regan not playing means Westport do not need extra man at back which big help.

Chances of game being played in such conditions if meet again in month or 6 weeks far from likely...

Westport had the game won and conceded a crazy kamikaze 1 in a 1000000 goal to lose. They clearly wanted to win that game. It might suit them more to go away from home but they certainly wanted to win that game.

Balla very impressive against mayo gaels, running out 10 points winners.
Oisin Cronin and Gary McHale are two top class footballers. Heard on the radio it was ballas first win out of 12 group games since coming up, and with relegation looking like kilmeena, Charlestown, gaels and belmullet / knockmore/ claremorris, they wont have a much crucial one for years.

G

Regarding divisional teams, could play after the club championship, exclude anyone who was on this years county panel plus anyone who is on a championship winning team this year. This could be played on a round robin basis, and would be good trials for next year's county panel.

Club championship really kicks off in the quarter finals but games seem more open. Although that may change when it comes to knockout!!

G

Gizmobobs says:

September 15, 2024 at 4:13 pm

Knockmore 2 down at the break v Bellmullet.
Now down: McHale, Dempsey, Holmes, Parks, Timlin, King and Armstrong from last year. Will be doing well pull this one out bag.

E

Belmullet vs Knockmore could have a very tense finish. Surprised that Claremorris have a 5 point lead going into half time. May not have the winners in it, but shaping up to be the most competitive of the four groups.

G

Retrocut says:

Claremorris conceding 4 shocking goals to knock them out. Very impressive going forward but very weak defensively. Ballaghaderreen very limited but well coached and were extremely efficient.
Claremorris much better individuals but Ballaghaderreen much more experienced and sucker punched a young team who were well in control numerous times.
Kuba Callaghan too big and developed for the likes of an 18 year old Paul Gilmore who did his best but was left exposed too often.
Cian Hanley sent off for a very nasty tackle on Rio Mortimer towards the end who was carried off, if he doesn't get his card overturned it will be a big loss.
Mortimer was excellent throughout as was Niall Hurley, Darragh beirne and Darragh Joyce.
Kuba, Hanley, sharoize and drake all still going very well for Ballagh. Top of the table and home quarter final and they've done extremely well to qualify, you'd expect the likes of mitchels, Ballintubber and Westport will all be hoping to get them in the draw. However, they've been written off all championship and they will be hard beaten.

O

M

Mayonaze says:

September 15, 2024 at 5:35 pm

Orme was ok to good today but definitely didn’t stand out much more than others. The goal was handed to him on a plate, essentially an empty goal to kick into. It was a really enjoyable match to watch. The ref let a lot go and made a lot of iffy decisions. Belmullet, seemed to run out of gas - were they fit enough?? Knockmore owned the last 20 mins, but up until that point were fairly average. Ryan was the standout forward on the pitch. What’s new?

I was looking out for Howard in the middle, given he is young and in the ‘potential’ category. He had some positive moments but would need to work on his speed and just needs to be more direct and imposing. Take players on.

A lad who always looks to take players on is Evan Ivers. Had an ok game. Drifted in and out. But he shows little moments of class every now and then. He’d need to do it more consistently but he has a great turn of pace and an ability to drop the shoulder and beat players, something most Gaelic footballers cannot do.

I was impressed with Lavelle, the Belmullet corner back in their match v Claremorris and again today, he was impressive. How old is he?? Are himself and Howard u20?

It was a good game with lots of solid performers, but if you were looking at it from a Mayo perspective, I don’t think any player sparkled that much. Plenty who you might look at again. ROD had class moments but even he had a quiet -ish game by his own standards.

It was very hard for any player in the Charlietown /Garry game to standout given the conditions were dreadful, but Towey definitely did well and he scored one point in the first half against the elements where he got the ball on halfway, ran up the left wing and curled over a beaut.

Darren Quinn also deserves mention.

I thought Cathal Slattery had some good moments and in particular late in the game when Charlestown had reeled it back to 1, he won possession and drove up the field , gave it to Quinn who kicked a nice point. Slattery’s best moment and ultimately the score which won it. It stopped the Charlestown gallop. If he continues to work hard on his game and S&C he could do very well.

G

Green&Red says:

September 15, 2024 at 5:48 pm

Knockmore showed unreal character to win that game. Typical of them when their backs are to the wall. Mind baffles me why Orme wasn’t given more chances with Mayo. Something not adding up that management could do with answering. A lot of people backed belmullet to win the game with Ryan and Eoin back but Knockmore simply ripped the throat of them when they had to. It’s fine talking about character, it’s another thing showing it, and with an injury hit squad that second half from Knockmore is as good as I’ve seen all year. Credit to them. Would be great to see them go further but really under the cosh with injuries. For a rural club to produce such a high standard of footballers both a senior and junior is a credit.

M

Mayogodeo says:

Watched all 4 games of football on mayo gaa tv this weekend and have to admit I’m quietly impressed by the standard compared to last year.
The whole shadow boxing has been taken out of it with the new home advantage rule for group winners.
Players that impressed me for what my opinion is worth
Dylan Gallagher (Davitts)
Jack Keane (Hollymount)
Paul Towey (Charlestown)
Darren Quinn (Garrymore)
Patrick goldrick(Charlestown)
Eoin ivers (Belmullet)
James lavelle (Belmullet)
David Mchale (Knockmore)Very strong man marking job on o Donoghue knowing what we know he’s capable of.
Howard (Belmullet)
Mark Cunningham(Mitchels B)who had a great win against kiltimagh.
Not sure what’s going wrong with Kiltimagh,a club that was competing to win intermediate not so long ago has taken a drastic fall.

G

Mayogodeo McHale done a serious job on O'Shea in county final couple of years ago. As tough as nails for his size and great reader of game.
Ivor's was quite good as well today, albeit against a makeshift midfield that included young Staunton who is a minor and done quite well himself going forward.

M

Is that young Staunton lad from Knockmore a son of former Mayo player Kevin Staunton. Looked like he had the same physique

Knockmore players tog every year very consistently and are well coached. That's how they do it. They don't have a lot of attrition in losing players.

Jp the same can be said for garrymore and it shows with how consistent they are in championship for a small club they never seem to lose players even the older players consistently available and logging out.

Maybe being away from the Mayo set ups help these clubs. Does it seem lads going in find it harder to get out of the set ups from U14 on? given different ages lads develop physically there should be more change in personnel in the development squads I'd have thought. Geography and who is over a set up would also appear to make a difference. Would love see breakdown geographically of clubs players selected from and compared to map of where the management team from. I could be way off of course.

How long clubs like Garrymore and Knockmore can keep it up given the planning laws in rural areas is questionable. Numbers underage dropping dramatically in a lot of rural clubs sadly.

- Good competitive game in Charlestown with the pace of Westport causing lots of problems for Ballina in the first half.
- The first Ballina goal was a standard flick from a high ball into the square. The second goal was a comedy of errors and led to great celebrations in the Ballina dug out.
- Nothing won yet though...
- Great work by the Charlestown stewards who know how to direct traffic...

weather or not the 2nd goal was a fluke they still got it in and that asks more questions of westport side of things then Ballina when westport had the game won nothing won yet though of course westport will still have a big say in the championship..

Ballina have a lot to work on but hopefully we get Evan Reagan back soon.

Sam calinan is coming along nicely to he is young and lots to learn.

Lee keagan looked awfully dissapointed so they definetly wanted to win fair play to westport to though caught the 2nd half and seemed like a great game. Entertaining stuff

You would have to feel for Conor Diskin didnt get one minute of championship for Claremorris again this year due to latest injury setback.Surely Kevin needs to bring him in for a training programme and preseason training and take a right look at him and see where hes at.
