This weekend’s Connacht club championship match between Ballina Stephenites and Coolera-Strandhill gave us the perfect excuse to talk football with Gerry McGowan.

The former Sligo forward is one of the most-respected coaches in the game and is well-placed to assess the chances of the two-in-a-row Sligo champions against the back-to-back Ballina lads.

Gerry also chatted with Mike about the Mayo men in the Sligo backroom team and why next summer’s championship match between the counties matters so much.

Rob and Mike also look ahead to a big weekend for Crossmolina and Cill Chomáin.
