Sunday’s game is now officially a sell-out

Donegal GAA confirmed yesterday that Sunday’s National League Division One match against our lads at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny is now definitely a sell-out.

In a short statement on their website (here) Donegal GAA said that a small number of match tickets had become available yesterday but these were all sold in a matter of minutes.

No reference in that statement was made to the efforts reported on yesterday in the Irish Independent about the capacity at O’Donnell Park possibly being raised from 8,500 to 10,000 for the game. It’s not clear if these deliberations are still ongoing and if increasing the capacity for Sunday remains a possibility at this stage.

The match will, of course, be shown live by TG4 and so fans who haven’t got tickets will still be able to see it even if it’s only from the sofa. Midwest will have live radio commentary on the game as well.

Don’t forget that if you’re one of our Patreon club members we have two free tickets for the game, courtesy of podcast sponsors EBS, to give away. Club members have already been notified about how to enter this competition and we’ll be announcing the lucky winner of the two tickets on Friday night.

Thanks once again Willie Joe. My first time posting this year. Like the late great Paidí O'Sé, I've wintered well, but now I'm like a spring calf, mad for action!
Btw, good luck with the new venture Willie Joe. I can't believe you're the age you say you are, and that this glorious blog has been going on that long?
Long may it last!
I've been really encouraged by Andy and our team so far this year, and a few of the newbies have really stood out, so it's great to see that, and great to see some of the old guard going so well too . There are still a few lads to come back plus all those doing so well in the Sigerson makes it exciting times for Mayo football.
I'm really looking forward to UL v UCC this eve on TG4, esp with all those Mayo lads involved with UL.
UCC are the aristocrats, but UL look like a super outfit so fingers crossed that they prevail and the Mayo contingent are on the right side at the finish..
Re Sundays game, I don't think either Donegal or Mayo know their optimum team just yet, but I reckon Mayo can nick by the minimum, a rare win in the hills up north.
My weekend treble will be Ireland, Mayo and Arsenal, with Mayo away giving me better odds!
So, good luck to Andy, Colm and the team and to all travelling, this weekend, and good luck to you too WJ!
Up Mayo!

That's a dodgy treble RP. Ya might not have fingernails by Sunday evening.
Serious amount of Mayo lads on that UL team by the way. Here's hoping they do the business

UL will be scratching their heads a little at half time. Monopolised possession but not reflecting on the scoreboard yet. I think no 8, 29 and 32 have been the most dominant players for UL

From a Mayo perspective in that first half a mixed bag

Morahan so comfortable in possession. Reminds me a lot of Colm Boyle. Also really nice point off his left foot but also got blocked down badly for a point effort when it wasn’t on

Irwin does some really good things (his point for example) fused with a couple of poor things such as his wide in front of goal. He’s playing some nice ball in with his head always up but I often feel there is more in him

Dawson has worked hard, a good middle 8 player. Two poor wides but showed character taking his 3rd point effort

McHale got a really nice score, won a couple of balls which he played in his teammates for his scores. Don’t think he could do much more with the goal effort blocked on the line, he was surrounded by 3-4. Doesn’t have the pace or threat his teammate wearing no 32 has but if they can get him on the end of moves 30/40 yards out he has it in his locker

Huge congratulations and we'll done to Mayo powered UL on a great victory. Hope that winning feeling and mentality stays with our lads throughout their careers.

Great team performance, End of the road for that panel but they have written themselves into the history books. League and cup double, 11 games 11 wins.
The mental toughness they displayed will certainly filter down through the Mayo panel.
More of the same in Letterkenny on Sunday.

Although Power said 26 of the 34 are eligible again next year so there could be a kick or 2 left in them yet.

Hope I'm not overstepping the mark here lads. Free minibus from Kernans spar shop in letterkenny to the ground. Apparently parking close to the largely residential area near the ground is very hard to secure.

I have a spare ticket for this game (have a season ticket and redeemed it but now can't make it) - happy to send on a screenshot to someone if they want it. I presume a screenshot will work - I usually scan it from my Google wallet.

Email me on pkirrane@gmail.com if interested. Thanks.

While it's always nice to win games and I always say play to win everything, A big win against Donegal might be worst thing to happen this team going forward. A defeat after a tight game by a point or two, a draw or a win by a point or two coming from three or four down entering last five minutes , would be best thing for team and Management

A lot of need a rest after the college games.
I see Bob Tuohy only came on as sub in the Trench cup final so probably injured.
A game to experiment.
