Reminder: podcast event for Ed’s book on in Ballinrobe this evening

This is just a quick reminder about this evening’s event for the Ballinrobe launch of Edwin McGreal’s book Our Finest Hour, which is in association with the Mayo Football Podcast and which takes place at the Coranna Restaurant at the Ballinrobe Racecourse.

Throw-in is 7pm this evening and admission is free for what will be an evening of lively discussion, with representatives from Ballinrobe, Kilmaine, Hollymount/Carramore, Shrule/Glencorrib and The Neale all taking part.

Mike, Rob and I will be there and we’ll be collecting audio on the night for a future podcast show. Ed will, of course, be there too and signed copies of his book – a seriously impressive piece of work, by the way – will be available to purchase at this evening’s event.

It is indeed CP, but ponchos and windbreakers look like they needed moreso for the weekends game.
Look like it's going to be a wash out which is unfortunate.

Any chance postponed if the weather warnings come in?could easily go as a double header with the junior final next week if necessary

CP you'd like to think so, as otherwise we as good as guaranteed another poor final spectacle. And be through no fault of the players, if weather as bad as predicted.

When they allowing time for replays if a draw happens the calendar timeline is there to allow it.

Orange warning in place on Sunday, all day, for Mayo and Galway. Gusts up to 90 km an hour. Biggest day of the year for knockmore and ballina. Common sense should prevail and should be put back a week. But I don't think it will. Get the game played mentality. Crowd will be affected, the neutrals won't travel and met eireann will advise people to stay off the roads.

County final should be put back a week with that weather forecast for Sunday. Common sense and health and safety.

A decision on county final need to be made today, in consultation with Met Eireann, not on Saturday.

Agree with above. Supporters making travel arrangements.. TV/radio will be the option for many neutral fans

Decision will be made this evening following board meeting.

The jersey is better than previous alright but not spectacularly different, collar nicer. Bland enough with arrows facing down in the grain basically. Compared to the Dublin alternate which has a bit of something different.

Maybe our new alternative one be more character and style, will know in few weeks. Start saving for the kids who want the 2 jerseys :(

@Sean Burke: The Connacht Championships are on the weekends of the 9/10th November QFs, 16/17th November for SFs and the final on 30th November/1st December.

Having the Mayo Championship finishing any earlier than mid-October would be hugely detrimental to our sides chances of advancing in the Provincials. Plenty of issues with the 1-week turnaround between knock-out games (memories of hearing it was originally planned to be 2 weeks between every game which would be perfect from the outside, can't remember what sparked the change there) but otherwise the scheduling in general looks pretty spot on.

@Gizmobobs: Haha, funny enough, the collar is the one part of the new jerseys I can't stand (otherwise the design looks solid IMHO). Shows for sure you can't please all the crowd all the time. Like you, we've a captive audience here so I'll be buying a couple regardless.

With an orange wind warning - there is no way the game will go ahead Sunday.

A lot of things get posted here labeled as "scandalous" and/or "disgraceful". I rarely agree with these sentiments, but having our premier club showcase spoiled two years in a row and continuing the same scheduling is something I would apply those terms to.
