I’ve been asked to give a plug for the upcoming Mayo GAA Golf Classic and am happy to oblige in doing so.
This year’s event takes place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th June at Westport Golf Club. All funds raised at this popular four-ball event go to support the players and team who represent Mayo at all levels and codes.
There are a number of sponsorship categories available for the event and you’ll find further details on this as well as instructions on how to make a sponsorship payment here.
Best of luck to all for the event. Here’s hoping that the sun will be shining then like it is now (albeit that the poor farmers get some rain in the meantime). Fore!

Originally thought to be an abbreviation,Bonni Boyler, for the Scottish term forecaddie... someone whose job it was to know where the ball landed.

When I play golf, I spent more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff!

Rusty,
I only played it once. I knew straight away I would be no good at it. Couldn’t find my ball anywhere and eventually found it in a hole in the ground, the only one around. I wouldn’t mind but there was a big pole with a flag on it warning me it was there.

The highlight of my extremely short and unproductive golfing career (to be more precise, it was only pitch and putt) was when I drove a tee shot into a herd of cows in Sandyford. That’s when there were cows in Sandyford! That was me done with that particular sport, around 1983 I think it was.
