Mayo Football Podcast free episode: And the Club Stars nominees are …

With five weeks to go until the award night for the Mayo Football Podcast Club Stars with EirGrid, we announce the nominees for the Team of the Year.

Colm Boyle, one of the Club Stars judges along with John Casey, Martin Carney and Nigel Reape, joins Mike and Rob to talk through the list of players who will be in the running for awards on Friday, 13th December at the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport.

The lads also chat about some of the players whose club form might lead to a county call-up.

This new podcast episode is available on Patreon for club members – it’s HERE. We’ve also released this pod as a free show on all podcast platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, Podomatic and SoundCloud. You can listen to it here on the blog as well, using the SoundCloud player below.

Tickets for the Club Stars awards night will go on sale shortly.

The Mayo Football Podcast has partnered with EBS — The Mortgage Masters — this season.

EBS are looking to hear from Mayo supporters who are living at home or abroad who might be looking for some mortgage advice.

They have an office in Castlebar where you can arrange an appointment to call in for a chat, or you can find them online by searching for ‘EBS Castlebar’ or by clicking here.

He did, but the other 3 hucksters went against him.

Think Boyler agrees with my bewilderment about the Ballina situation re. London.
Regarding the nominations. Reckon at least 12 of that list will line out at some stage in the green and red during 2025.
Can't agree more with Boyler Regarding MacHale and Healy being given a prolonged period with the panel other than a chance in a game where possibly a lot of others are also trying to make their claim on a spot. Inches is all we need county wise. Both players with a sustained chance in the panel could well be the difference in a 1 point defeat to a 1 point win.

Agree Richie and on that point. Lads like Healy and McHale will likely need a solid 12 months before they might make any noticeable impact. Both can score. Both can win ball. But it takes so much more to do it at senior intercounty level but absolutely bring them in, put them on dedicated programmes and give them time.

I’m glad too that Boyler eveh referenced Ivers. The lad can do things that many at intercounty level struggle to do and what impressed me most is his ability to ‘break the line’. A shame he didn’t get nominated but I suspect it’s down to being in the relegation zone. Towey is an exception.

I also thought Oisin McLaughlin was the most effective Westport attacker more so than his brother, who has potential but certainly needs more S&C

What about Conor Diskin, hadnt McStay met with him at the end of last year before his ACL operation he mentioned it on the pod with Mike ,would love to see him get a chance at 14 for Mayo.

That’s right Sam Óg, it was a very interesting podcast on Diskin last year. You can only admire the fella. The fact that he didn’t feature for Claremorris means he had an injury set back so who knows the story now for him. He has missed an awful lot of football. Fingers crossed he gets to where he wants to I still think he has something to offer. In particular, power and ball winning ability.
