The finalists in the Mayo Intermediate club championship were decided on Sunday afternoon as Kilmeena and Moy Davitts took care of business.
Mike watched Kilmeena beat Kiltane and spoke to Aidan Kilcoyne about the game afterwards. He also got the reaction of winning manager, Damien Egan, and Jack Carney afterwards.
Meanwhile, Rob travelled to Ballina to see Moy Davitts get the better of Ardnaree Sarsfields. He spoke to Ryan Kenny, Tadhg Ruane and Chris McGlynn after the dust had settled.
Rob also reports from Islandeady after watching Louisburgh beat Burrishoole in the Intermediate championship relegation play-off. The hero of the hour, Dylan Prendergast, chatted to Rob afterwards about Louisburgh’s great escape.

Great coverage as usual on the pod's!
I watched both Intermediate semi finals. Moy Davitts took their time but were the better team and good to see Ronan Clarke kick a few scores, he missed one free and hit the post with another effort but he kicked a few beauts too - would like to see him demand the ball that bit more. In the other game, Kilmeena deserved the win, but they got the majority of the decisions from the ref. One of the Kiltane management got booked I think and you can understand their frustration on the line. Liam Moore was terrific for Kilmeena and Carney was physically imposing but I didn't see anyone else really standout from the two games yesterday which was a bit disappointing. Sometimes intermediate footballers get talked-up much too easily from a 'Mayo' perspective. We have to remember it's very different to the standard at senior level...never mind county standard!! You need to be incredibly standout over a long period of time in intermediate or junior football (or be someone who was class at underage in recent seasons) to warrant a call up. There must be lads from the likes of Aghamore, Balla and Charlestown who wonder what they have to do get in the conversation for Mayo and are scratching their heads when intermediate players are getting praised to the hilt.
Really looking forward to the Intermediate final - two well matched teams. I think Moy Davitts will edge it but only if they show up for the full 60+ mins. They've been flakey enough at times and generally inconsistent. That won't cut it in the final.

MoyDavitts comfortable winners , if they get off to a good start & avoid a dog fight.
They have the mid field & forwards to turn the screw with 2 pointers

Inter-county is a different sport.
Jason Doherty never really stood out at intermediate football but was a pretty good intercounty player.
The county man rarely plays the same role for club as he does for the county

@Culmore: Tommy had a relatively quiet year (especially in the context of the space offered with the new rules) by his standards, but seemed to be growing in to form as the games went on. 1 very strong performance and a couple of decent performances, but hitting just the 1-7 for the campaign (compared to his 3-7 in '24 or his 19 points in Senior in '23) and 5 of that coming in the one game against the to-be relegated Burrishoole. The Neale had an underwhelming year in general (I'd have been one of the many tipping them to make a real push this year & challenge as dark horses), with Tom also hitting well under his hoped returns (just the 1-0-2 for him from play & just the 1 tpf, two areas he'd have hoped for more, despite a decent 1-18 overall). Robbie Hughes being the one player receiving fairly rave reviews for them this year, especially in a stand-out performance against Kilmeena.
James will be happy with his individual performances this year, though I'd imagine the sting of his goal being disallowed for a team breach causing a costly 4 point swing in the semi-final still leaving a bitter taste in the mouth just yet so of little consolation to him. Scored from play in every game, a constant threat (even when being well marshalled), and solid leadership for his side when needed. Significantly his best return in recent years, in both minutes played and the scores (3-15) that go with them. In the conversation for a place for sure, but with plenty of competition around the county feeling they'd make a strong case too.
Mark hasn't any minutes played this year for Westport, so hard to judge any form there.
