Lee Keegan is our guest for episode 4 of our ‘We Need to Talk About Mayo’ series on the pod. The former Footballer of the Year and five-time All-Star, All-Ireland intermediate club winner with Westport and a key man in their historic Senior club success in 2022 provides a valuable perspective on what it takes to make it to the highest level in inter-county football.
Issues that have come up repeatedly in our conversations for this series include psychology, performance and culture around playing at the highest level for Mayo at the business end of the championship.
It is obviously instructive to speak with someone who has performed at a consistently high level on the biggest days in a Mayo jersey. There are very few people in the county, or indeed at national level, who have such a record of high-level performance over several years as Lee Keegan does.
In this podcast episode, Lee provides some great insights into his own unique development as a footballer, his inter-county career, his mindset and where he thinks Mayo GAA can improve, both on the field and off it.
