Supermac one of Garrymore or Knockmore will beat the other surely :)
With knockmores injury list, and Garrymores home advantage as well as it being under lights all points to Garrymore win. Be some going for Knockmore pull it out of the bag.
Ballaghadereen, Ballina and Westport for the others.

Bought the weekend pass for Mayo GAA tv. A bit surprised at the €40 price for 5 games, 2 of which are on at the same time. It’s a great service but thought €25 would be plenty.
Gizmobobs says:
September 28, 2024 at 4:49 pm
In the City, Enda Mc had weekend pass prices up on X earlier for other counties:
Cavan 4 Games - €20
Clare 4 Games - €30
Galway 6 Games -€35
Mayo 5 Games - €40
The fancy hotels and stand debt won't pay for themselves....

@ Sean Burke , listening to the game it appears neither of the O'Connors had much influence on it.
Cillian missed a lot.

True Jr ballagh were well drilled and had a good plan , also had the markers capable too , drake was v good imo .
Dave Johnston says:
September 28, 2024 at 8:43 pm
Diarmuid had no influence on the game today. Definitely didn't stand out as a county player amongst club players. Cillian tried hard but couldn't do it all on his own. Was well marked by Drake. Mcbrien looking in good form for Ballagh. Serious power and pace today.

Nightmare stuff for garrymore, 3 of the worst goals conceded and 3 absolute sitters for goals missed.

@Dave Johnston in fairness to Diarmuid he's been rocked with injuries this year.

The worst day of football so far in the senior championship but sometimes the pairings just don't make for great games. Hopefully tomorrow's fare is back to the standard so far this year.
One gripe and the same fecking gripe I've had several times before. When mayo gaa tv are streaming two matches at the same time surely they must realise that if we buy a pass for all games we'd like to view the games without knowing the results or score updates, If they feel ob.iged to give the scores could they ay least advise us to turn off the sound. Very amateurish carry on to sell the streams and then fecking ruin them!
Jr says:
September 28, 2024 at 10:56 pm
@ Clare, county players should stand out in club championship.
No excuses.
Mileage a problem.
Both O'Connors great servants of Mayo football.
Clare says:
September 28, 2024 at 11:09 pm
@JR course county players should stand out not saying otherwise.
Hardly an exsuce to say Diarmuid had alot of injuries this year and didn't see much game time can make a massive impact he's still one of our most important players when he is fully fit.
Karol Mortimer says:
September 28, 2024 at 11:20 pm
Another way of looking at it is that Diarmuid and Cillian will be well rested for next year. But there is no room for optimism here :p

End of an era for a Great Ballintubber team. Five Moclair's in Ten year's has been a massive achievement for them. The conveyor belt of talent is not coming through for them. Cillian had very little support from his fowards today and as a result felt pushed to do it all on his own.Poorly organised team I thought. Ballaghadeereen deserving winner's.
Knockmore sure put on a dominant display under the lights against Garrymore. Sure they got fortuitous goals and Garrymore butchered there goal chances, but as a team display I thought they were outstanding. Darren McHale had a super game as had Pearse Ruttledge and Aidan Orme. With Sean Holmes, Shane McHale, Kevin McLoughlin and Conall Dempsey to come back into the fold, they'll have a big say in the destination of this year's Moclair Cup.

If a player is declining due to injuries that's in itself a factor we've often ignored and we persist with those same players until eventual retirement.
The championship is really showing me our panel are not the best panel of 34 players we can put forward.
Sean Burke says:
September 29, 2024 at 10:53 am
Diarmuid is not even 30 yet , he has put in some elite performance levels that some of these players are not capable of ever . I’m not sure what some are suggesting but if they are leaning towards dropping diarmuid from county panel , that would be simply stupid imho . He’s elite . Forget the notion and move on .
Clare says:
September 29, 2024 at 11:16 am
When Diarmuid o Connor is at his best he would walk onto any team.
Jaysus I hope we don't 'rest' Diarmuid next year. We badly missed him this year when he got injured and it was clear to see.
People said cillians day is done and he was only coming back to form last year before we got knocked out.
Diarmuid will come good again next year.

Hi Willie Joe would it be an idea of have a thread specifically for club championship weekend? For example, there are comments on the intermediate/junior preview blog, the senior preview blog & the podcast episode blog, and a lot of good comments might be missed.
One thing about Garrymore playing an outfield in goal. Armagh had played Ethan Raffery, a midfielder, in goal for a few years. This year, they went back to a specialist goalie in Blaine Hughes & they won the All Ireland. I think Rafferty was injured early this year which may have forced McGeeney's hand..but it would make you wonder

Agree with all that JP.
Watched most of the Ballagh/Tubber second half. Dire stuff, I have to say. I thought Cillian was trying hard and could have found chinks. McBrien v powerful, but Ballagh did not score in the chunk of football I saw. Callaghan seemed to be a spent force in the second half.
JP says:
September 29, 2024 at 12:52 pm
I'm not saying drop Diarmuid, but it's a huge exaggeration to describe him currently as elite. He's not. That's the playing record the last number of years. Ryan is elite.
