@opt2misteek. There is a different county championship system in Kerry involving divisional teams and the championship did not start in Kerry yet. This final on sunday is exclusively for clubs and the winners will represent Kerry in the Munster club championship only if a divisional team wins the Kerry county championship.

Watched Ballinrobe v Kilmaine. No one really stood out unfortunately from a ‘Mayo perspective’. An entertaining game played at decent championship intensity but a load of unforced turnovers. Both teams missed a load of chances so the fact that ballinrobe still managed 2-16 I think is more a reflection of how weak the kilmaine defence was. Not a classic by any stretch. Ballinrobe had faster players throughout the pitch and at intermediate level that makes a real difference

David Clifford has played 5 championship games in the last 5 weeks in a row with no break. He will be playing again in 3 weeks ttime with East Kerry when they start the defence of the county championship. Crazy stuff.

A big win

I was going to post a comment here in relation to this podcast when this it came out earlier in the week
but decided to hold off a few days out of respect to WJ/John.
As a subscriber and fan of the podcast since the early days (not just a listener, but someone who has been telling others about it) I found it really disappointing to hear Martin Carney's comments [around the 12th minute], when it was put to him by Mike that one or two individuals on the blog had issue with Aidan O'Shea being selected on the Team of the Week. Martin's reaction was that these people needed 'to bloody get a life'. It was a bit of an angry rant and not very nice to hear, at all. Of course people are fully entitled to disagree, voice opinions strongly and sure, if everyone agreed on everything it would be a boring place! Some individuals, including myself, were fully entitled to post which was definitely 'fair comment' that Aido's performance was not enough to be included in the Team of the Week and I'd definitely still stand by that, having watched the game back again on Mayo GAA TV (Mike and anyone else are absolutely entitled to disagree with this). My comments after that match were in no way a cut at Aidan. He has given enormous time, commitment and effort to Mayo over the years (and his club) and he is a guy who has received appalling personal abuse online. I, and I would think the majority of those here last week who commented that he shouldn't have been on the team of the week, are all massive Mayo supporters and always want to see him play well. We are the ones who have travelled the country for decades following Mayo teams, underage and senior and vocally supporting Aidan and his team mates and to frank, hearing Martin Carney's 'bloody get a life' comments left a sour taste. Had Mike been asking Martin about the online and personal abuse Aidan gets then this comments would have been spot on, but that's not what he was being asked about. It was also a bit disappointing that Mike didn't check Martin in any way on this. I had to switch it off. When I did tune back in the following day, I can say the the rest of the blog was very enjoyable. Martin and Boyler's insights and opinion's on the club games were good to listen to and whetted the appetite for this weekend's matches.
It was telling to hear Colm Boyle quietly comment after this, in a very diplomatic manner that in his opinion the Breaffy Kilmeena game was one of 'low quality' and with 'no standout player'. That's exactly what I saw and that is why I didn't think anyone on that pitch should have been near the team of the week.

@Mayonaze I didn’t see the Kilmeena Breaffy match to comment on OSheas performance
I’m terms of that section of the podcast, I found Martin Carneys rant unnecessary and irrelevant to the point Mike was making. Aidans 15 year Mayo career had nothing to do with views on his performance -v- Kilmeena
What I found interesting though was I got some sense of sensitivity to the Team of weekend selected and critique of it. There’s so many differing team of weekends out there across various social media platforms, everyone has a view and who is to say which one is correct

The funny thing is aidan is very loved on the blog, didn't he get voted mayo player of the year on the blog?

@Roco88, that’s it…I think the vast majority of contributors here are real diehard Mayo supporters and theres a sense of community and unity with the podcast so to be basically told to bloody get a life simply for making a very fair comment, ah look I don’t wanna make a mountain out of a molehill but it was very poor. Enough said on it.
