Mayo Football Podcast episode: Reflections on the third round

With the focus already turning to the club championship quarter-finals, we take one last look back at last weekend’s third round matches through the prism of what might happen next.

Mike is joined by Colm Boyle and Ger Flanagan to pick through some of the main talking points and to reflect on how some teams who are now out of the championship might be feeling this week.

This new podcast episode is now online and is available to our club members on Patreon – it’s HERE. To get access to this pod and to all our other great content for as little as €1 per week, join the club HERE.

The Mayo Football Podcast is the new home of the Club Stars, with this year’s gala Club Stars event taking place at the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport on Friday 13th December.

The Mayo Football Podcast has partnered with EBS — The Mortgage Masters — this season.

EBS are looking to hear from Mayo supporters who are living at home or abroad who might be looking for some mortgage advice.

They have an office in Castlebar where you can arrange an appointment to call in for a chat, or you can find them online by searching for ‘EBS Castlebar’ or by clicking here.

Really really positive club championship so far. Ballina and Westport two best you'd think but breaffy look extremely well coached, Sean Deane fantastic.
Old guard in Ballaghaderreen, ballintubber Knockmore all stepping up also.
Mitchels much improved the last day and in my opinion deserve credit for the way the young lads are going. Huge pick so to go with the youth deserves credit even if they aren't exactly flying.
John McMonagle unbelievable player who is a shoe in for county level in few years, still only 18.
Reflects a trend in this year's championship, young players in mayo u20 panel flying.
Looking ahead of next year's group, seriously impressive from loads of players involved
McMonagle, Slattery, Gilmore, coghill, Jude Clarke, Jack Keane, Dara neary, cathal keaveney, oisin Cronin, Ronan Clarke, Tom lydon, Robbie Hughes, Niall hurley, Darragh beirne, oisin Cronin, Dylan Gallagher all having very positive development in their first proper year playing.
Puts even more pressure on peadar Gardiner and co after two shocking years of results.

Rio Mortimer also deserves to be in there, probably claremorris' most consistent player and huge leader in that group at only 18 years old.

lots of talk about great new players coming through from under 20 and minor, no great results from these players in last few years, when we get beat by Sligo and Leitrem in underage .

Great players are only great players if they are allowed play....no great skill needed to hand pass a ball backwards or sideways a couple of meters.
Hopefully that stuff is confined to the past.

Is it true that shrule glencorrib never won a county title (senior , intermediate, junior) & claremorris have not won a county titile (senior , intermediate, junior) since the early 70's
