With the Mayo Senior and Intermediate club championships getting underway this weekend, we set the scene for the first round matches.
Rob is joined by Colm Boyle, who will be lining out for Davitts in the Intermediate championship, and Paddy Finnegan, the former Aghamore manager, who has taken over Claregalway this season.
The lads look at some of the storylines that will shape the group games and talk about why it’s going to be so hard for so many senior clubs to break the stranglehold of the Big Five.
Plus, they cast an eye over the opening weekend of an always ultra-competitive Intermediate championship.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t get their predictions.

As usual
Round 1 asks as many questions as it answers.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

Spoke to a man who was at the intermediate game between Parke and Ballinrobe. By all accounts a cracker of a game but heard on the radio that umpires made very strange calls against two Parke scores? Heard young Duffy was excellent from placed balls for Ballinrobe. Ballinrobe will be annoyed not to win it considering the strength of their team and a very young Parke side.
Some crazy results in senior, Balla died with their boots on and Castlebar will be disappointed not to get the better of Charlestown. Mind you Charlestown have a knack of getting results in championship. Ballina look to be setting the pace this year again.

Kilmeena and breaffy both wearing white jerseys was madness, I'm sure all senior clubs have alternative jerseys, ridiculous for a senior championship game, balla really did put in a serious effort fair play to them, ballina looking good and again castlebar disappointing they should be beating charlestown especially at home.

@ontheroad, the jersey didn't bother me because you had Breaffy with a big chunk of blue on theirs and Kilmeena wearing black shorts versus Breaffy's white. Lots of clashes could be overcome with change of shorts.
How did Towey play against Castlebar? I imagine McHugh marked him. Castlebar are going nowhere.
