Mayo Football Podcast episode: Jim Gavin at Ballaghaderreen Festival

The Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival hosted a social chat with former Dublin manager Jim Gavin entitled ‘Saving Gaelic Football’ on Friday evening.

The event was originally organised by the late John O’Mahony back in the spring and went ahead as scheduled with a tribute to John and his family very much to the centre.

Podcast host Rob Murphy went along for a listen and afterwards took the rare opportunity to grab a word with the former Dublin manager on all things football. Also on the show we chat with John’s brother Fr. Dan O’Mahony about the event and the efforts John went to bring it all together.

The interviewer on the evening was Sean O’Rourke who stood in for his friend the late Tommie Gorman. A poignant evening then and in perfect celebration of  the men who put it together, it proved to be a fascinating and open discussion about the future of Gaelic football.
