Mayo Football Podcast episode: Final Whistle – Mayo are Connacht U20 champions

After a thrilling final in Tuam, Mayo secured a first Connacht title at under 20 level in seven years. The 2-17 to 4-8 victory over Roscommon came after a rollercoaster of a game.

Mayo led by nine mid-way through the first quarter but were pegged back by half time and after an end to end second half they could easily have fallen short.

Rob Murphy is joined by Edwin McGreal for our Final Whistle pod. We hear from Mayo manager Peadar Gardiner too.

Well done lads. Ye gave us the usual few Mayo heart attacks but got the job done in the end. Defence nearly cost us the game but they will know that themselves. Maybe no harm to get a bit of a wake up call. Forwards need to realise it doesn’t always have to be a goal. Take the point if it’s on. Still it’s a great achievement to win Connacht after the disaster last year. No reason ye can’t go further.

Living in Meath there was great hope for them against cc Louth tonight but they were well beaten.
I saw Louth beat Dublin on TV, a big physical team that play direct football.
Interesting Louth made two changes in their FF line and added a lot.
Their best line against our poor line at the moment.
