Next weekend will see 44 teams in action across the Mayo Senior, Intermediate and Junior club championships with most of them having something to play for.
In this bumper podcast episode Mike and Rob are joined by Nigel Reape, one of the Mayo Football Podcast Club Stars judges, to run the rule over the third round games. It’s a fascinating chat that covered a lot of ground.

Mayo focus.. If you see an 'Electric' game anywhere let us know.. The standard of football is at a very poor level.. That all ireland final between Gway and Arm was one of the most forgettable in yrs.

Why is the Balla v Mayo Gaels changes to Breaffy. Is it at the same throw in time
Mayo Focus says:

Norm I meant Electric more in terms of the rivalry. Im from neither parish, but i Went to school in Balla, and there was a healthy rivalry during my time there

Blond64 ya it’s the same throw in time..clogher would have been a brilliant venue for the game.supporters right on top of the pitch. Must be a good reason for the change

Thanks, a brilliant pitch for the neighbours. It's a pity.

It would be fascinating to know what the best / most heated rivalry in the county is. I think the main 3 I’d consider are
Balla vs Mayo Gaels
Knockmore vs Ballina
Castlebar vs Tubber
Any rivalry bigger than them? Maybe Charlestown and Ballagh?

Knockmore v Ballina always a mad one..Ballina seem to be on fire atm but knockmore always up their game v Ballina and always a great game.
I'd say Charlestown & Ballagh to @Green & Red.

Oh sorry mayo focus I have you now.. Ya rivalries always make it interesting, I was at a good few mayo club championship games over the yrs and Ballina knockmore was the main one, obviously in north mayo and they always were there or thereabouts at the business end in finals and semis. Tough games, tough players esp the Staunton, Butler, dempsey brogan o Neill era v Brady, mchale ruane mcgrath mcstay era. The best club footballer I've saw in mayo was Ginger Tiernan from Charlestown however.. Outstanding fielder, kick passer.. Tough as nails and not awful big.. But saw him dominate Brady and mcgarrity in a Co final.. And V knockmore too... Was surprised he didn't get more of a run with Mayo.

Probably one of the biggest rivalries in the county is Crossmolina v Knockmore or any combination of Crossmolina v Ballina and Ballina v Knockmore

Think the Mayo Gaels v Balla game was moved to Breaffy to allow the Gaels go hooting' and tooting' through Balla on their way home!
