Well done Breaffy what a fantastic win against a good Belmullet side in the last few seconds of the game. They showed great character and resilience to pull it out of the bag.a lot of people question this Breaffy squad but they have shown a good few times that they are made of different gravy to previous Breaffy sites 6 points down against Crossmolina in the league final and come back and win 7 points down against Ardmore and come back and draw against Belmullet tonight when they were heading out of the championship in the dying Seconds of the game against a good Belmullet side shows huge amount of character from a mixture of youth and experience Breaffy side. A lot of praise has to go to Sean Deane and his management team for the substitutions they brought on tonight they all contributed massively to this win tonight.

Blessed with no small amount of the rub of the green either in there last few games as well with decisions, but you need that of want to win I suppose.
If anything happens Aidan I not sure they have a back up plan. Their one dimensional nature could prove costly.

Breaffy certainly know how to grind out a result and are hardy. 2 points down at half time and facing into a hefty breeze they turned it around. They still look vulnerable though and Eoin ODonoghue for Belmullet going off at beginning off second half had a big bearing on how momentum turned for Breaffy...especially at midfield.
Some big gun will take Breaffy out I feel.

@The west awake - no more than Mayo, Breaffy have to win it before they've proved they're "different gravy to previous Breaffy" sides.

Watched Ballagh v Ballintuber- good match
Kuba Callaghan and Akram V.good. can't understand why Kuba was not used previously for Mayo.
Commentator was hilarious- did not get his name!
Castlebar Mitchels very good v Agahmore. Some nice players on both sides.
Overall a good service for people like mise who are domiciled outside the county.
Comhghairdeas to MayoGAA.
Mile buiochas to WJ for providing the links- hugely important 👏 👌

@Oilean acla: Kevin Egan (an Offaly man based in Roscommon, if you'd be willing to forgive crimes of that nature - was a guest on the pod around our minor QF game against Offaly this year) on comms for both the games yesterday.

Ht: westport 7 Balla 6. balla scores from frees (5 points), westport indiscipline, except one score Ousin Jordan. Balla wasteful but Dolan two two pointers and excellent save from Keegan.
Westport have strength in subs to up their game

Knockmore under pressure too, where down by 3 with 5 to play in the 1st half but finished it strongly with 1-2 to lead by 2 at half time. Gaels fighting hard to be fair.
Gizmobobs says:
September 7, 2025 at 1:43 pm
With ground softening based on what I've seen to date Ballina, Ballaghaderreen and Breaffy be the main contenders, with Crossmolina next in line, and higher up if weather holds.

Full-time in the 1pm games:
Westport 0-15 Balla 0-11
Knockmore 3-19 Mayo Gaels 1-12.
Knockmore top the group with Westport as runners-up. Mayo Gaels are in the relegation play-offs.

Westport getting better and better, no one will want them as they are a 2nd seed, please not breaffy v Westport again haha
Westport defence is brilliant, balla scored 2 or 3 points from play .

FT: westport 14 Balla 11. Difficult crosswind. Westport moved ball well but missed chances/ wrong options kept the score down.
Hard to fancy going any further. Failed to put their dominance on the scoreboard
Third Man In says:

@Gizmobobs, not sure how Knockmore aren't in that top 4. I would have them very close to the top myself. Any team that can be bringing on the likes of Kev McL from the bench is a very strong team. At the very minimum, they would replace Breaffy in that top 4 for me.
Ontheroad13 says:
September 7, 2025 at 2:52 pm
Third man in i agree. Knockmore are definitely in the top 4 they have unreal depth in there squad, really looking forward to the ballina v garrymore game now
Gizmobobs says:
September 7, 2025 at 3:38 pm
I've Breaffy included based on how lucky they are on the decisions front.
Balla didn't score much v Knockmore either from play if recall newspaper reports. Westport don't seem to give minors a go as much as other clubs, even in their junior final v Knockmore they used alot of older heads that playing for seniors. Youth can be used now as can see by average age profiles that have won last 5 years, games not as physical bar aerial competitions

Ballina pulling away now, 0-16 to 0-8 up, ten minutes into the second half.
Crossmolina are still scoring goals in the other game: it's 5-11 to 1-12 there so Deel Rovers are on target to top the group.
Willie Joe says:
September 7, 2025 at 5:09 pm
Crossmolina are definitely going to top Group 1. They're 5-16 to 1-12 up on Ballyhaunis now. Ballina 0-16 to 0-10 up on Garrymore so they look safe enough too, 10 minutes to go in both of those games.

The drama was all in Intermediate today. Absolute box-office stuff, even just following it on twitter (thankfully the Ballina game got managed so heavily down the finish you could give the phone full attention).
Late 2s, last second equalisers and teams bouncing around in positions... and that's just the Islandeady Parke game.
Ontheroad13 says:
September 7, 2025 at 5:34 pm
Davitts would have gone through if parke didn't score that late equaliser, unreal 2nd half performance from ardnaree too
Ballina and garrymore was so predicable, ballina are really good in many ways but there lack of scoring forwards outside of regan will cost them this year at some stage

What 2 teams went through in Ballinrobes group
TsuDhoNim says:
September 7, 2025 at 5:41 pm
@JoeT1480: Yeah. Kiltane top the group, Parke 2nd on H2H, Davitts 3rd and Islandeady in the relegation spot.
A late Bryan O'Flaherty 2 had Islandeady 1 up going down the finish but a late Parke equaliser changed it all. With Kiltane/Davitts tight enough that nothing was sure until the final whistles blew in both.
TsuDhoNim says:
September 7, 2025 at 5:44 pm

1st Ardnaree 5pts
2nd Ballinrobe 3pts

One of most mental finishes I've seen to a game in years in Parke islandeady.
Bryan O flahertys two pointer best I've seen this year at all levels, 50+ out, against breeze, outside the boot, must've swerved 20m in the air before going over, in the 64th minute too.
As it stood, Davitts and kiltane were through, Parke in relegation, and islandeady safe in third.
Simon cloherty fisted point with last play of the game to change everything
