Mayo Football Podcast episode: Chatting with Andy Moran

The former Footballer of the Year sits down with Mike to look ahead to the new inter-county season.

Andy explains how and why he has ended up as Monaghan’s coach, what he learned from managing Leitrim, and how he feels Mayo are going to fare out this year.

He also talks about Austin O’Malley’s managerial success, why he might go back to play club football later this year and why managing Mayo remains an ambition.

This new podcast episode is now online and is available to our club members on Patreon – it’s HERE. To get access to this show and to all our other great content, for as little as €1 a week, join the club HERE.

The Mayo Football Podcast has partnered with EBS — The Mortgage Masters — this season.

EBS are looking to hear from Mayo supporters who are living at home or abroad who might be looking for some mortgage advice.

Great podcast there with Andy and Mike.

So much to take out of it. When he was talking about the inter-firms competition (which he seems to adore), he reminded me of an ex colleague who played in an ESB competition many years ago. This guy was a goalie for a Midlands team and Wille Joe was at full forward for North West. Late in the match a high ball was kicked in, and my friend decided that was his ball; he had a good run to the twenty one yard line getting huge momentum, and soared into the air supremely confident of his catch, only to find that Willie Joe, from a standing position was a foot above him fetching cleanly, turning and lashing the ball into the net. An education from a master.

Andy Moran and Austin O'Malley wouldn't be a bad shout for our next management. AOM as the manager and AM as coach/chief selector.

Who would be a normal selector?
