I know its all subjective but Conor O shea over Kobe ???? I know were playing him down( a bit in media circles )but 1 goal , 1 2 pointer and 2 points from play, we need to recognise class..

Niall Coggins for Crossmolina is an absolute diamond of a player also, performs every day he goes out on the pitch.

Not many of County panel especially the forwards making teams of the week, are we going to see big changes in new panel

We need changes in our forward line, need some scorers and nifty fearless link men.
Too many big men in the middle without the agility to change direction quickly is now a disadvantage, it was Galways Achilles heel against Meath.

So the top scorers in senior championship now reads, not in exact order
Kuba, Evan Regan , James Maheady Kobe, Towey, Ryan O D, Peter Naughton and Killian Kilkelly.
The majority take frees, but I think thats positive thing and are also scoring freely from play aswell as goals .. so thats fresh in it's own right but discount, Peter cause he plays for Sligo, Evan cause hes getting up in years but rest are young dynamic forwards all of whom are worth a look .
Similarly in Intermediate lads whom haven't had senior run out but going well and are young are Josh Carey, Adam Barrett, Brian O Flatherty, Ethan Convey, Shane Finnerty and Cian McHale.
Junior sees a good mix also, so plenty fresh forwards scoring well in addition to like of hybrid midfield/forwards like Frank Irwin, Slatterty, Quinn, Dempsey, Armstrong, Durkans men, Darren Mchale on form ... lots of choices for new management

I’m assuming the top scorer charts don’t differentiate between scores from play and free’s/pen’s? Of course free taking is hugely important but I do think from the perspective of identifying top forwards for Mayo we need to put far greater emphasis on scores from play. Like, Callaghan got 1-10 in Ballagh’s 2nd round clash. A great return but not a point of it from play (as far as I’m aware). There’s also the situation where a lad is fouled and then scores from the resulting free kick . That should be look upon more favourably than a fella who isn’t featuring much in play but taps over a number of very scoreable frees

A very good freetaker is needed on any winning team, over the recent years we have missed too many easy frees especially from right side. Remember winning teams with free takers like, Dean and Barney Rock, Brian Sheehan, Mickey Sheehy, Joe Corcoran, Mickey Kearns, Cyril Dunne, Tony McTeague, abd many many more, even more important now with the 2 pointers, 99% frees now inside the 50 mt line have to be scored if teams want to win tight matches.

Mayonaze kubas first 2 pointer was from play (into tricky breeze)

Another point (excuse the pun) in the new rules which seems to have been totally forgotten about is the use of shaving foam or whatever it is to mark the spot for frees. It disadvantages those kicking off the ground too, because their spot is fixed. I watched Cillian Kilkelly coming way inside the proper spot yesterday when kicking off the hand, and I’m sure he wasn’t the only one! If the foam isn’t available refs could use a yellow flag like the refs use in American football!

Cp, thanks. I wasn’t sure. He’ll get a chance with Andy. I hope he takes it

Image there with a breakdown of the higher 'from play' scores after R2 (2 pointers too, just to keep an eye on any bolters there). Hopefully get a R3 one up a little later in the week.
