These lads are a joy to watch.
The pressure when they don't have the ball, tackling in 2 and 3s,huge intensity.
In possession it's all pace, quick ball and skillful, accurate forward play.

It'll be interesting to see can they play at this level for 60 mins.

5-22 to 2-16 FT. We led by 18 early in the second half but they then cut the gap to seven before we finished strongly to win by fifteen in the end.

Mayo scorers: Darragh Beirne 2-6, Niall Hurley 2-4, Tom Lydon 0-4 (one 2pt, one free), Cathal Keaveney 1-0, Oisín Cronin 0-3, Colm Lynch, Paul Gilmore, Dara Neary and Luke Feeney all 0-1. (Point missing from that total! Will chase it down shortly).

Hugh O’Loughlin at wingback impressed me a lot. He won countless kickouts and used it wisely. Sligo had no answer to the pace and power upfront particularly when their kickout was under pressure. But our backs could be got at when they ran at us.

Sligo have some fine footballers.

Does anyone know where the final will be played or does it depend on who our opponents are?

Let's hope we don't turn those outstanding young forwards into hard running, hand passing, wing backs!

Hot favourites coming into this Connacht championship and just one win away from winning it now.

Neutral venue for the final so the rossies in Tuam or Sligo rematch in the Hyde?

W

Match report and Final Whistle pod now done.

T

TsuDhoNim says:

@No doubt: Neutral venue, so will be after the semi-final when we'll find out.

You'd probably see the Hyde (if Sligo win the semi), Pearse or Bekan all as live options for it.

Defence still a big issue and if not sorted this bunch won’t win anything despite lots of ammunition up front. 2-16 against Sligo ain’t good enough, at all

I love watching these forwards and what’s positive to me is the ability of Hurley, Beirne, Lydon and Cronin to kick scores off both feet. We’ve seen examples throughout the campaign and in previous years too. Keaveney is a nice footballer too, clever enough in possession.

@Mayonaze one win away from winning Connacht now and that's something Mayo haven't won since 2018 so not to be sniffed at.
