Good stuff nice fluidity and confidence gaining with lads like Jack and Frank , Darren mchales winning plenty breaks and good distribution.
Jordan Flynns being closed down a time but two but he's so so very important to this team . So consistent and everywhere on the pitch.
No on the anti coen brigade but if we did have Jack a little deeper and pace of Neary at 10 , we be so much better . Teams just lacking that super pacey incisive runner.
But all very good and hope for more free football and confidence booster

Wow, one minute relegation, next top of league. Has ever a team been top of division with an -1 point difference. That itself is a worry, alway seem to leave teams in it, and one day you will get caught. Every other team except Derry had positive point difference. Didn't really want league final, but definitely didn't want to relegated.

I’d imagine the odds would have been fairly long on a Kerry v Mayo final but here we are planning for Croker next week. I’m delighted as it will be a great game for both teams ahead of their championship campaign. Two northern teams gone, one of whom are the current league champions so I think all the teams who survived are feeling a little relief this evening as Division one is a real bear pit to survive.
Chesneychet says:
March 23, 2025 at 5:46 pm
I dont know Clare, we had injuries to key players McHugh and Walsh and with Maher and Comer (cant say he is fit) off, PJ probably hoped to reach the final but Kerry were too strong for us, faster and quicker to the ball, Joe O Connor will cause Mayo trouble in final. Geaneys played very well. Kerry's intricate passing in the forward line destroyed us in the first half. Paudie Clifford was unmarkable.
Worry for me was that Clifford was kept quiet but Kerry ran riot on the scoreboard. I would see them as favourites for the All-Ireland, I think they showed their hand today as they feared relegation. I dont see the final as a problem for Mayo as I expect ye to reach the Connacht final. As for us you wouldnt put my life savings on us beating Roscommon.

I say will start the same team in the final, who will be on the bench is anyone guess, which is good. Eoin O Donoghue Eoghan McLaughlin Fergal Boland Paul Towey and Davitt Neary are assured of places. They have been a lot of comings and goings throughout the league will little playing time for some, should be interesting for selection made.

So Mayo-esque to top the league nobody wants to win. As boring as the match was, it also had to be our match that provided any element of jeopardy or edge of the seat stuff. I’m happier not to be relegated but was not an inspiring performance against a team trying to lose ?

Well done Mayo. Now that we are in it , hoping we can win it.
I'd be a bit worried that under utilisation of our squad during the league doesn't catch up with us. I didn't see the logic in playing Jordan in the second half after a heavy knock just on ht. He picked up another late on in the second half.
Other substitutions were very late so will have to go with his strongest 15 again next week.
It's a lot of consecutive minutes for certain lads.

Not one of Jordan's better days. He turned the ball over a fair few times in both halves and the knock certainly wouldn't have helped him either. Luck was on our side in a big way today and hopefully that streak will continue.

Green&Red says:
March 23, 2025 at 7:46 pm
Great to see we are back in a league final and I thought at times today we played some massive football. In particular the last 15 minutes of the first half. A real joy to watch and a far cry away from poor football we saw at the outset of the league. Credit to team and management for turning it around. We can all be critical of management (myself very much included) but they have got a reaction from players.
The only thing I would say, the structure of the league, or its value needs to be relooked at. How we could be within 15 minutes of relegation to topping the table makes no logical sense. Maybe 3 points for a win 1 for a draw etc to spread out points tally. And it’s no coincidence that the teams needing to win today did. Were Donegal, Dublin, Galway already focusing in on championship with such quick turnaround times?

The league really isn't a league though with so few games, when see same couple teams going iuo and down in a professional sport you'd likely ave 10 team top tier, home and away games.

The good the bad and the disinterested, strange game but good to have run out in croker.
Need Eoin O D for coner back, we're too open and too nice aat the moment.
Centerback needs shoring up and not sure if that means McBrien to 5 and Coen to 6 but need to stop teams going straight through us.
Other than that nice to see forwards scoring and going well.
Ya great to be in final, lucky but there now so let's make most of it , be afraid of no one, respect them mark Paudie, Mchugh on DC, eoin o D to give Geaney a tough time, Flynn on Jack O Conor and just go hard and leave it all on pitch .
Nephin says:
March 23, 2025 at 8:21 pm
Rober. I don’t see how we did as I suggested in 22. From the round game to the final, we only made 3 changes and all 3 coming in were experienced players. We were beaten by a far better team.
