It’s a big day for Crossmolina Deel Rovers who take on Ballinderry in this afternoon’s All-Ireland Intermediate club football final at what’s set to be a wet and windy Croke Park.
TG4 are streaming the match on their YouTube channel and the live stream is available below. Throw-in this afternoon is 1.30pm.
I’ll be back later with a match report and we’ll also have a Final Whistle pod on it from Croke Park.
The whole county is behind Crossmolina in this one. The very best of luck to the lads in today’s All-Ireland final.

Fair play to Conor Loftus for playing today and he just got a beauty of a point.

Nothing between them at the break, this one’s likely to go down to the wire. Conor Loftus playing really well, what a man he is. Ref is a bit picky, whistling for everything in what are difficult underfoot conditions. They’ve even switched the lights on here now, it’s a real dirty day.

I’m delighted for Conor Loftus. It was important that he won today. He fully deserved it. But. Never in a million years was that a penalty. Possibly the worst decision I’ve seen from a ref in a very long time. Nevertheless Ballinderry only have themselves to blame messing around with it at the back like that. Congrats cross.

Looked like another 1 point heart break but for once in Croke Park the luck shone on us...
I've no idea how that man got through today stood up like he did but as a Mayo person I'm proud of him and all of the Crossmolina lads.
I hope the people of Cross enjoy their few days.
Congrats.

Delighted for Loftus and the whole Crossmolina team. I’d have to disagree with Green and Red there. Keeper had both arms wrapped around the player in possession. Given the number of soft ones that Ballinderry were given by the ref in the last few minutes it was certainly a case of a justified decision.

Massive congratulations to Crossmolina. I don't think there was a neutral in the country that won't be delighted with that result. Conor Loftus what can you say about the mans strength of character to play in that game, never mind give the performance he gave. Thoughts with him and all the family. It should put everything in context for a lot of people.

Finals are for winning. Fabulous from Crossmolina given the few weeks they’ve had to endure.
And what can be said of Conor Loftus? Simply don’t have the words. Inspirational performance. Will never forget it.
That’s a community that deserves a bit of light. Hope they can find the space to savour it.

Great result Fair play to Crossmolina and to Conor Loftus Ref might have been a bit picky but felt the penalty was a lucky enough award but I am not complaining . Missed 2 great goal chances in second half Really enjoyable game. Such a pity the PA system is so poor Couldn’t make out a word either J Burns or the Crossmolina captain said. Anyway fair play to them on a fantastic win

In the final play, the Ballinderry player took about 12 steps before being dispossessed. Stonewall free in not given

Thought Cross were the better team but mistakes made conceding a lot of frees and some overshot passes for goal chances. At 3 up looked good.
Great guts from Conor to take the penalty and sad sight to see him heading off the pitch before the cup which is fully understandable. Guessing he felt a duty to play given the journey and had a big part in the winning of it for his mates. He won’t be celebrating like everyone else but great strength of character to get through the day the way he did. And no doubt it won’t be a normal celebration either for the community but they all showed will to win and hope they enjoy the achievement. When the chips were down most in the game they went for it and got their reward. Well done.

Massive congratulations to crossmolina and like has been said it was truly amazing the way it ended . Thoughts with Conor loftus .very strong character he has showed today .
I really couldn’t care less if the penalty was justified or not , mayo teams rarely get the rub of the green , we will take it if it comes .
Shuffly Deck says:
January 26, 2025 at 3:55 pm
I’d agree there was luck in the end and was surprised how quickly the ref awarded it but as said above it should still be a free in for over carrying and extra time. Sometimes luck goes your way especially if you go for it. I think we all agree Cross we’re the better team, way more goal chances.

Very emotional in there. The ref didn’t award other frees to Crossmolina that he should have. Seemed to me there were times in the match where all Cross had to do was look at Ballinderry and ref had the hand up for a foul. So whether or not it was a penalty I couldn’t care less. Cross got it, Conor scored it and Cross won. Woohoo.
Shuffly Deck says:
January 26, 2025 at 4:05 pm
The ref also missed some body checks taking clean out some cross players and also me 3rd man blocking too especially when the goalie was involved in play so poor day out for him and his officials didn’t help him enough either. Cross guilty of some clumsy fouls but opponents a good bit more cynical I thought. Even so it wasn’t a dirty game overall. Not sure if the standards drop off quickly after the top few refs or what. It will be hard to officiate the new rules at club level with the added complexity.
Sinead37 says:
January 26, 2025 at 4:17 pm
Agree Shuffly Deck. Some of the body checks had me worried if there was extra time that the Crossmolina lads would be too broken to play well enough. But they were all standing at the end.

Well said Sean Burke. Absolutely a clear free out but for long enough we’ve been on the receiving end of bad decisions. Cross won’t mind a jot and have this unenviable record of Senior and Intermediate all Ireland winners. Well done to all team, management and supporters, enjoy all the well deserved celebrations.

Congratulations to all in Crossmolina. Conor Loftus deserves huge credit for what he did today. For many, including myself, he is now in the legend category - a status he won't ever have to justify again for either club or county.

I thought Cross's discipline was going to let them down, particularly when they went three ahead. Actually, it was during that period though that the seeds of Ballinderry's downfall came. McKinless the gk was a loose canon, and his yellow for lying on the ball, not giving it away for a minute or so, and then giving lip to the ref, meant he was on shaky ground thereafter. So was Jordan by the way. Anyway magnificent end game; no complaints here about a Mayo team not closing it out!!
