This afternoon’s match up in Carrick-on-Shannon wasn’t the only one the county was involved in today. Earlier in the day the Mayo hurlers were in Rackard Cup action, taking on Armagh up at the Athletic Grounds.

It proved a profitable trip north for the lads as they came away with a big win over the Orchard County. A very big win, in fact, as they had 21 points to spare at the finish, running out victors by 1-29 to 0-11.

The win puts Liam Larkin’s charges on top of the table after two rounds. Already they’re the only team left with a 100% record and so their chances of progression to the latter stages of the competition are now looking extremely good.

Next up for them is a home game against bottom of the table Louth next Saturday, a match that’s fixed for Hastings Insurance MacHale Park at 3pm.
