26-7- 2026. One of the best days of my life. I`m 73.

Congrats and thanks to all the Mayo players and management who got us over the line.
Also I owe a great gratitude to the Mayo players who helped get our son over the line and reach the 2 year cancer remission milestone this year, after going through a tough 4 years of chemo and all the hell that comes with it .
As a mayoman resident in Dublin, Mayo was always his team and reflected his rollercoaster battle.
I came to realize the importance of heros for a 12 year old boy through his own battles and that my own encouragement paled into insignificance in comparison with a video message from his mayo heros with a simple message like"you're a warrior". As he told me, 'they made me feel brave and courageous' going into hospital for more torture. He got support from lots of players (Mayo and other - Monaghan, Kerry) players like Aiden, Cillian, Jordan and in particular Stephen Coen (A brilliant Leader.)(and Collie dog) and their support videos made my life easier, provided distraction and encouragement, and I can't understate the difference it made in getting us through.
It should not be underestimated the effect that heros like this will have on inspiring upcoming young lads and the post game meetup with heros after a match is huge in creating a positive and motivated future for Mayo football.

What I'm also so proud of is the way our lads are conducting themselves in victory. Zero cockiness, very grounded interviews etc. Andy too, he's taking it all in his stride. They really are top class men in every way. So proud. Jack said in his speech that Andy wanted to make them better footballers AND better people. Well it shows. Such a powerful statement. Hats off to each and every one of you.

Who knows what the future holds for these living legends? This is only the beginning. Lets leave that for another day and enjoy this time. Hup Mayo.

Lads and ladies enjoy this feeling. It won't be beaten. Even if you win 2, 3, 4 in next few years, from experience it's that first one after a long famine that gives you that feeling. Enjoy the celebrations. And again well done. Fantastic team to watch.

Packed all my bags and belongings yesterday as I prepared to leave the Kingdom. I had a feeling in my water that I would not be returning South from the Capital. While I enjoyed the hospitality of Killarney - yerra sure I knew I was destined for the Wild Atlantic Way. I am currently on the Iron Horse enroute - galloping through the green pastures of Westmeath. Looking forward to waving to our good neighbours in Roscommon and Castlerea.
Castlebar beckons and it will be great to settle down in my new home in McHale Park.
75 years is a long, long time. Feels good to be back home!!

Well said Hill 16. What's seldom is indeed wonderful. There's a couple more in there (potentially) but, as you know yourself, there's always some young buck looking to upend the alpha. We'll soak it up and reflect in the meantime. I'd wager Ger Brennan might be scoping the county sides soon for a Kilkenny replacement (tough task). No guarantees in anything in life except death and taxes.

Yesterday, must have given you some personal rewarding satisfaction for all your hard work in keeping the green and red spark alive and well among the gaelic games best supporters.

My father (God rest him) lifted me over the turnstiles for the 1967 Mayo v Meath semi-final and while we lost that day by two goals, the seed was sown. The long journey was all made worth it yesterday - thank God!
I'm still in 'relief' and 'emotional' mode nearly a day later. I certainly hope the 'celebration' phase of this great reality kicks in soon.

I’m sitting here in MacHale Park with kids blowing air horns all around me. Usually they annoy the hell out of me at matches here, but they are the hum of victory today as we wait for our heroes.
While we celebrate today we shouldn’t forget this has been built on teams of legends through the years, players and managers who have drawn us in to a lifetime of following the Green and Red. Andy spoke last night of standing on the shoulders of giants, and so true he was. This is just the top of the mountain but the trip up the mountain has been some journey. There’s an element of ‘What do we do now?’, but let’s worry about that in 2027. This is 2026, and we are All
Ireland champions, beating the cream of Kerry in the final. Never mind the nay-sayers over the years, those who took pleasure in our pain over the years, tools like that
certain resident of Knockmore who wouldn’t know bravery on a football pitch if it hit him in the face.. I won’t mention his name here because to do so would be to give him oxygen that he doesn’t deserve. At last we can finally dismiss him and his tripe written about us for years.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
We are priveleged, we are proud, we are Mayo!!
