The Mayo News is reporting (here) that Hollymount/Carramore have decided not to take their appeal any further in relation to the incorrect recording of a two-point score against Kilmaine in their recent IFC Round 3 match.
The club had appealed without success both to Mayo GAA and Connacht GAA and, while the option was still open to them to pursue their case further with the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) they’ve now opted not to do so.
That report in the Mayo News quotes a club official as follows:
“While we firmly believe our position and concerns are valid, we have decided not to pursue the matter any further. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the Mayo Intermediate Championship, as any further appeal on our behalf would cause delays to the Kilmaine versus Kilmeena fixture.”
To my mind, this is a mature and sensible conclusion on the club’s behalf. While there’s no doubting the sincerity of their concerns, it’s clearly in the best interests of all for the matter to be let rest at this stage. Hollymount/Carramore are to be commended for deciding to bring the issue to a close at this point, thus allowing the Intermediate Championship to proceed with any delays to the remaining fixtures.

Not easy decision, but ultimately the correct course of action. Championship won on field, and not the boardroom

Fair play, but horrible for those players to have their season end like it did

Willie Joe. I'm not sure if you were being joking or not , on an earlier pod, when you said that Diurmuid Connolly was up till 4am waiting for the DRA decision before the 2015 replay.
I think it's safe to say he was snuggled up in bed ( his own, not a hotel like the opposition) long long before that time.

It’s a long time ago now, Paddyjoe, but my recollection was that the appeal went on into the wee hours the night before the replay and that, as the player in question, he was there until it finished. As I’ve said, though, it was years ago and my memories of it could well be faulty.

It was certainly resolved after 3 a.m. on the Saturday night before the game. I'd be surprised if DC stayed up until then. But then again - if I was in his shoes, I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep for worrying anyway.

What a farce. The referee in question from that game should be held to account

Smart decision. Not all prizes are worth winning and, regarding the ref, it's reaching the stage they need fit barristers running alongside them.
To err is human.....etc.
