Club Stars – tonight’s the night!

Months of planning and preparation have gone into it and tonight, in front of a full house at the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport, the gala awards event for the Mayo Football Podcast Club Stars with EirGrid takes place.

We’re expecting close to 400 people at tonight’s event where, as well as the special awards already announced, we’ll be unveiling the Club Stars Team of the Year as well as the Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Young Players of the Year.

Mike will be helming proceedings as MC for the awards event, while Rob and I will be recording some podcast audio content. Keep an eye on the podcast’s socials later on for updates on award winners and photos from the event. I’ll have a wrap-up on the awards here on the blog tomorrow.

We’re looking forward to a great evening in Westport, where hopefully we’ll get to meet with plenty of our loyal podcast club members, as well as players, their families and friends.

It’s been too long but, at last, tonight is the night when the Club Stars are back!

Best of luck to all involved tonight. No doubt it's going to be a fantastic event.

With the predictions cap on...

Senior: Aido
Intermediate: Cian McHale (very tough. All 3 with a valid case)
Junior: Justin Healy
Young Players of the Year: James Maheady (toughest of the bunch. Any of the 4 you'd make a very strong case for)

Intermediate POTY has to be Conor Loftus. His performance in the final and espeicially when Crossmolina were down a man would swing it I would think. That on top of solid displays through the Intermediate Championship would have Conor as my choice. Cian MacHale probably the stand out forward in Intermediate this year but overall performances both defending and driving forward when required/mattered in the final reason I’d go with Conor

Would agree on Aidan and James Maheady for senior and young player.

Sam Og, haven't heard of one this year. I think there's possibly an intercounty challenge game instead this year, but not sure if officially confirmed.
If there is a club stars v county game it would likely be the Official Mayo GAA selection as opposed to the Mayo news one.

It would be great to see a challenge game in Garrymore or Ballinrobe two great surfaces and proper floodlights like the old FBD games.
I remember Mayo playing NUIG in Ballinrobe on a Friday evening in 2013 brought a huge crowd.

Sam Og - there are no plans for any game involving the Mayo Football Podcast Club Stars selection. I’ve no idea if Mayo GAA have any plans for a game of this kind.
