County semi final in particular senior should be played in the county ground. The majority of club players never get the chance to play in front of a busy McHale park. For the hours they put in they should be rewarded a semi final on the best pitch in the county. Same with management and supporters. If the next 2 weeks prove to be very wet, club pitches will struggle to hold up. Not to mention big crowds that won’t all fit into a stand could get drenched wet on the day. Does the CB have any respects for clubs at all? Other then taxing the clubs to pay of McHale park debt? Even yesterday you have a club player from Kiltane flying back from London to play a game at 4 on a Sunday and no way back out. Play games earlier on the day. Moy Davitts player not happy about it either. Just a small bit of respect. What are we saving McHale park for??

If you ask the ballina knockmore olayers where they’d want to play it then there’s only one answer you would get…
Club grounds create way better atmosphere for fans and also decent revenue for hosting clubs

It is, indeed - it’s the only ground in the county that goes under that name.

- Westtport were very slow to get going in their last 3 games. It was really only when Paddy O'Malley got the straight red that they dug in.
- They gave Breaffy loads of time and space in the first half and to be fair to Breaffy they played some good football and well deserved their half time lead.
- Should be a very interesting game with Crossmolina. Westport need to start strong, get their men on breaking ball for the kickouts and fast ball into Finbarr McL,Kilkelly and Colm Moran.
- They need to improve but luckily they have room to. Improve.
- Overdue thanks to you WJ for providing all the links for the games and your great coverage.

Absolutely delighted these games aren't in McHale Park with zero atmosphere and a gale whipping through the place that would give an eskimo pneumonia.
The club grounds - while admittedly not all fantastically equipped with shelter! - have put on a great show this year and the atmosphere in these grounds at the very least, exists. And there are very few poor pitches among those named to host.

100% Agree Anne Marie , actually surprised that they decided against holding them in Castlebar, delighted as at least there will now be an atmosphere at both games.

Think moving SFs outside was voted on by clubs at start of year.

Yeah @green&red I agree with you, does the CB have any sort of respect for clubs at all? Honest to god the top clubs competing in the Connacht gold senior semi finals should obviously be a double header round in McHale Park just like how they are every year. 🫵💯
It's only the Egan Jewellers Intermediate semi finals and the relegation play offs that should be allowed to be hosted in the premises of other club grounds (neutral venues).
But to me it's all bullshit how top the Senior semi finals could be taken out of the big county venue where there's a proper atmosphere there and the proper excitement and buzz from the crowds there, to me its inexcusable how their not being hosted in McHale Park and saving the pitch is not one either. 🫵💯

That could be the spur to get those lads who really really want to play in McHale park over the line in their semi...win it and you will get your big day there.
