What do you mean ontheroad? I think the new rules made the game much better than this time last year. Lots of two pointers and extra space because of the arc. 2-12 each in a 60 minute game is good going.

where can you get final scores?
Watched the Aghamore v Breaffy game. It was an exciting last quarter but the standard overall wasn't very good. So, so many basic handling errors and from lads who are at county level. Aghamore were in complete control and deservedly so, 10 mins into the 2nd half but then when about 6/7 points up they sat back and handed all the possession and momentum over to Breaffy who in fairness plugged their way back. Once level, Aghamore suddenly came to life again and took the lead and with a minute to go Tom O'Flaherty was through on goal, Livingstone was on his line and he had one defender back tracking - it's as easy a goal scoring chance as you'll get at senior level and he popped it over the bar. It wasn't the wise decision. He should have buried it and it would have won them the game. You have to have a killer mentality.
Breaffy will be very disappointed with their display. The two O'Shea's kept them in it and you wouldn't say any of them had stellar performance.
A big opportunity missed by Aghamore. They'll rue not keeping the foot on the gas when Breaffy were struggling and that goal chance at the end. Oh, you have to bury those opportunities.
Eddie O’Conbhuine says:
August 8, 2025 at 9:37 pm
I have to agree with Azer about the game. Aghamore literally just decided to stop playing when they went 7 up and that goal chance was a gilt edged opportunity but Aghamore have done this so many times before, they are flying against a team and they throw it away.
I am so so disappointed in Breaffy. I really thought that this year was the year for them given the fact they have been flying and they were so poor today. If they didn’t have one of Aidan or Conor today they would have lost this game convincingly as they kept them in it.
Aghamore were excellent for 50 minutes of that game and threw it away, they will be absolutely devastated, some very very poor unforced errors on their part. I am perplexed how they managed to throw that game away
Supermac says:

The new rules have massively improved the club game too on all the early evidence I've seen.
Club championship in Mayo sfc the past few years has been dour defensive muck, that game tonight had loads of forced contests, 2 pointers and teams being forced out to try defend 2 pointers.
The new rules are a revelation.
Massive wake up call for breaffy there, a lot of peoples favourites to win the lot but aughamore played all the football there for 50 minutes
Jr says:

I agree it is difficult to get Mayo club scores.
Need to update the county board website.
Results up immediately after matches here in Meath.
For Mayo I have to go to Twitter or Mid West who give updates at half time and full time.
Not rocket science to keep people informed.
Willie Joe says:
August 8, 2025 at 9:52 pm
That's an utterly ridiculous assessment that Aghamore "just decided to stop playing". Breaffy's second goal reignited them and, as often happens, they then got on top for ten minutes or so but Aghamore fought back well to claim the draw. It's easy too to blame Tom O'Flaherty for not going for the goal - would you say the same if he went for it and the effort was saved? Popping it over looked the sensible option in real time at the ground at any rate.

Agree about getting latest scores or even FT scores is complicated and many different links needed. Irish soccer has a great resource called FAI Connect that is used for Loi matches done to local games. Someone from the home team updates it during games .. it gives line ups, latest scores, cards etc.
I realise that Gaelic is a much higher scoring sport but it would be a brilliant addition. What's the Scor is very hot and miss .. maybe it could be improved. Some clubs are excellent at updating scores on X

I was in clogher for Tubber v Charlestown.A big crosswind made it difficult.Tunber on top for pretty much all the game. Both teams had goal chances off the post in the first two minutes.Simply came down to Jason Gibbons for Tubber by far the best and Paul Towey very good but the only outlet up front for Charlestown.A last gasp 2 point effort went wide for Charlestown

Ah WJ…you’re (understandably) wearing the red and white hat there! I thought Aghamore deserved a better result. They were more tenacious and clinical in the tackle and took their scores when they came but from being in a position of control the intensity they had evaporated but then suddenly came back when Breaffy drew level. And every day of the week, Tom (or any forward) has got to stick that in the net. Straight through on goal. Don’t get me wrong, you cant blame him for Aghamore not winning, not one bit. He was energetic throughout and instrumental for his side, but certainly when he sees it on video I’d be surprised if he wouldn’t think ‘yeah, that’s a great chance to kill the game’. I watched it a few times and that’s my opinion anyway.

Cillian very good for Tubber last night, got plenty of attention, and as per gave as good as he got. We need more killers like him in Mayo.
Jason Gibbons lorded the midfield and Bryan Walsh looked every bit a county player from centre back. Towey hit a few nice scores but Charlestown could have got him on the ball more.
In the context of the game, the standard wasn't hectic. Charlestown on the wrong end of a few tight calls from the ref. Tubber always kept them at arms length but won't be overly pleased with their own display.
Looking forward to an Intermediate double this evening with Louisburgh Holly Carra and Kilmeena Burrishoole.

@soc51.
Tight first half, 2nd half Davitts,a bit like Aughamore seemed to be cruising at 6 up, a strong period for Islandeady put them back in front and with time just about up a mistake gave Davitts a last ditch 45, which Jack Melvin converted to get the draw.
Stand out , probably Bryan O'Flaherty,ex u-20 county keeper, nowadays playing outfield.
Islandeady will be the happier after a poor league, eventhough probably should have held out.

Islandeady will be absolutely kicking themselves, only a few seconds left, trying to play keep ball their defender kicked it back to the goalkeeper. How do players not know the rules at this stage of the year?
Although the referee didn't seem to know the rules throughout the match either
TsuDhoNim says:
August 9, 2025 at 11:03 am
@Waiting For Sam: Sadly, it seems to have died at this stage. No updates in '25 and despite multiple questions like yours across various platforms and channels, no official word on the issues or future of the app.
IIRC it was young lads from Galway that produced the app while in college. Those lads would be starting to move up the ladder (or across the seas) in their careers at this point, so I'd guess it's possible the time commitments needed weren't available anymore.
Fingers crossed Score Beo might see their growth at county level start to stagnate (I'd imagine they're close to saturation point where everyone interested in a score app for county games is already using them) & feel pushing into the club scene has more value for them than in the past (having already made a big push towards underage & Sigerson in the last couple of years).

Not sure what's happening with the URL slug there, but that's the Islandeady Intermediate game report from yesterday. A heavy Davitts focus on it, understandably enough, but gives some insight into the ebbs & flows of the game to add to 2 hops' great run down.
(Davitt's doing an outstanding job in terms of the detail in their social updates [a 1-4-12 style breakdown on the HT & FT scores the only thing they're missing for perfection] and frequently providing their own in-house reporting. Massive work for the PRO/volunteers involved there, but as a supporter it's invaluable stuff and hopefully rewarded heavily when it comes to sponsorship and winning over neutrals)
2 hops says:

If Liam Irwin sticks around and gets a few months of training on board ,and game time to hone his match sharpness ,he could (potentially) be a serious weapon for Breaffy going through championship games.
Early days of course but it's in there and maybe with the passage of time he'll have a new perspective on things.
Again could be an asset to the county team.

JP says:

Kuba is an u25 age group this year.
In my view he'd be very effective in a well coached system. Kuba is premier league winger quick and a fair size unit. I l ove how he plays the game he's always thinking goal.
He's a pure striker type player.
The key in my view is to be putting him on the ball at the end of plays facing goal.
Plays designed to allow him be a goal threat.

Was very disappointed with Darragh Beirne in this evening's game. The Claremorris goalie gave an absolute exhibition of kicking off the ground. Without him Ballagh would have won by 10+. Not sure about Kuba at county. McBrien was the real standout player in that game despite what Kuba scored. McBrien's conditioning is a level above the rest.
Ontheroad13 says:

Mcbrien is ridiculous at this level, he looks like a u18 player playing against u14 players, the way he broke the line in the 2nd half was just class no claremorris could lay a hand on him, I think hes well capable of doing that move for mayo.

Just watched Ballagh v Claremorris. The score line flattered Claremorris. Ballagh were comfortably the better team. Far stronger in the middle, more tenacious and far more cohesive. At times it looked like men against boys. Claremorris have time on their side but their decision making and basic skills were way off and the majority of these lads have been at county level underage. Surely they can do a hell
of a lot better than that.
Ballagh will be hard beat.

@I would like to say, I agree totally. How Fionn wasn't recognised as been good enough for minor last year is very hard to fathom. He's a team player too and is very clever at making space for others. Is great under a high ball, accurate, fast, what's not to like. How could management have missed him.
