Have to say I'm slightly nervous for the Ballina game. Think they will still make it through to business end but after that defeat to Cross you just don't know .

Will be an interesting weekend anyway hopefully not all ultra defensive from any side .. !

Holly/Carra 1-7 to 0-8 up on Kilmaine at HT. The goal from Matthew Morris but Kilmaine's Adam Barrett missed a penalty just before half-time (and, arguably, should have had a second penalty right after as it looked like he was fouled in the follow-up to the save). Holly/Carra lost Conor Heneghan midway through the first half with what looked like a bad knee injury - his leg went from under him as he raced to claim the ball.

W

Willie Joe says:

September 5, 2025 at 9:09 pm

Kilmaine go one up (via a 2-point Adam Barrett free) with ten minutes to go.

W

Willie Joe says:

September 5, 2025 at 9:22 pm

Kilmaine 0-18 Hollymount/Carramore 1-15 FT. Kilmaine go through on points difference at Holly/Carra's expense.

W

Willie Joe says:

September 5, 2025 at 9:37 pm

Two-pointers a major talking point in tonight's game. Kilmaine's Kevin Mullin scored a point from well inside the arc just before half-time, which was recorded incorrectly as a 2-pointer. Right at the end Holly/Carra's Matthew Morris scored a point, which they were claiming (wrongly) as a 2-pointer but which was (correctly) recorded as a one-pointer.

2 hops says:

Missed penalty aside WJ, how was Adam Barrett tonight? Could he do a job in a different shade of green n red?

W

Willie Joe says:

September 5, 2025 at 9:48 pm

He was good, 2 hops, he got two 2-pointers in the second half, one from play. The penalty was well saved and Adam had a strong shout for a second penalty as he was clearly fouled in the follow-up as he was about to shoot. Andy Moran was spotted in Garrymore so no doubt he'll have taken note of who impressed him.

September 5, 2025 at 10:02 pm

Well WJ , and it has come to pass. A team progressed because of a bad decision, regarding the policing of the 2 point rule. We might overlook it in the earlier games but when it’s one or the other, it’s a huge problem.

A

Aidan says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:02 pm

The 2 point rule is an issue that’s going to keep cropping up I’m afraid.
At club level it’s just impossible to police all the time.
Some team will lose out on a county final this year because of it.
Would like to see it trialled just going back to a 1 point.

G

Gizmobobs says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:07 pm

It's no different to penalty line and fouls inside and out of the box. If anything it's an easier one to judge as it's a simple inside or out, for penalties you e to decide I'd it's a foul or now, so can't see it going.

N

Nephin says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:11 pm

That’s my point Aidan. All well and good at intercounty level, club games is a different story. Even on TV there are times when you can’t see the 40m arc. Maybe it should be twice as wide as it is, to make it more visible.

P

Paddyjoejohntom says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:12 pm

James Fleming . The only form of cash Mayo Gaa accept at the gate are Greek Drachma"s or the Zimbabwean Dollar. Come with any other type of currency and they'll turn you away I'm afraid

T

Tubberman says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:15 pm

I'd tend to agree with gizmo. There'll always be human error (don't even mention going down VAR route!).
There have always been controversial penalties, 45s given or not given. In fairness, Hawkeye has been great for point efforts, but that doesn't apply to club level so you will still have controversy over points that should or shouldn't have been awarded.

A

Aidan says:

September 5, 2025 at 10:18 pm

@gizmobos as Nephin pointed out it can be very difficult to see the arc for supporters and probably same for linesman.

I was at a recent club championship game 3 weeks ago where a team incorrectly got a two point and the shot was taken from 3 to 4 yards inside arc. The game ended in a draw.

Look at the farcical scenes in the Fermanagh league final where two of them were incorrectly given.

Adam Barrett is one of the best scorers in Mayo. He's got good hands and he's skillful at opening up space for his shot. He's got a tall rangey frame, always thought he'd respond very well to the nutrition and weight training of senior county football. For me he's a player should have long been a project player if he was willing. His kicking skills will be the same at county level, that's not going to change.

T

True Grit says:

September 6, 2025 at 1:43 am

They changed the rules and created two pointers. You have two linesmen, 4 umpires, referee, and one linesman 4th official. If between all of them they cannot figure out if kick was taken inside or outside of ark ,then why go back to this one point again. It's not the players fault for the problem. I fully agree with the two pointers from play but not from frees.
Also I think when the hooter goes of at games ,the game is over. No more bullshit in playing the ball until it goes out of play.
But then the men's GAA is different than the ladies game with the use of hooter.

R

Rober says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:21 am

Very difficult for officials, players and supporters to judge the two pointers in games cos heavy rain during the day can lighten the markings. Just a suggestion, that a different coloured line example red line could be used on the 40 m curved line. White lines are very difficult to see..it's a bit like the coloured sliotar on night time hurling games.

Y

yew_tree says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:38 am

Disgraceful performance from the officials last night in Garrymore.

M

Maumtrasna View says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:52 am

There was a 2 pointer last night also for a ball which hopped over the bar. I think those flukes should only get a white flag. Took us back to closing minutes of AIF 1996

J

Jr says:

September 6, 2025 at 10:30 am

The problem with getting rid of the two points free is that opposition will start fouling outside the arc.
Seems to be far too many low scoring games throughout the country.
Too easy for teams to retain possession.
A problem that needs to be solved.

2

2 hops says:

September 6, 2025 at 10:40 am

I'd have a bit of sympathy for officials re the 2pt arc. As supporters it can be hard enough to call inside or out from an elevated position, but from ground level with a faded line it's much more difficult.

Y

yew_tree says:

September 6, 2025 at 10:41 am

2 hops - I would agree on border line decisions but he was a mile inside, everyone on the sideline behind the fence called it, linesmen, ref, nothing.

2

2 hops says:

September 6, 2025 at 11:13 am

Ya,I didn't see last night 's calls Yew Tree so can't comment there, just in general and as you say on borderline calls.

A

Aidan says:

September 6, 2025 at 12:53 pm

@yew tree I would not be blaming match officials there job is difficult enough!

The arc can be hard to see and also there is a smaller arc inside which may lead to confusion for match officials.

I think the rules committee will need to revisit the two point rule as it’s already causing difficulty.

2

2 hops says:

September 6, 2025 at 1:48 pm

Officials have to kind of retrain their eyes... usually you watch where the ball is about to land to watch for fouling, square ball, etc..... you would know by the yelp, if there was a late hit on the kicker.
You still need to watch all that now plus the positioning of his standing foot when he kicks, in case it goes over the bar.
I spent long enough calling them blind so and so's, I'd be willing to cut them some slack now... until it's my team that gets pinged of course.

G

Green&red says:

September 6, 2025 at 2:06 pm

I’m not sure if last nights call was as bad as a call 2 weeks ago. A clear 3 up breach from a team on an attack. 4th official comminuted to ref, went ignored and subsequently team on the attack scored. Last night was human error and unfortunate, as for 2 weeks ago, hard to know what that was all about.

Will be interesting to see if H/C appeal the decision and if so what will the outcome be. Unfortunate that it finished in a draw, the one result that would cause such controversy after the game!!

W

We are Mayo says:

September 6, 2025 at 2:38 pm

@ Rober Fair enough comment regarding the colour of the 40 M. arc but i don’t think W. J. or the many other including myself colour blind people would be happy with a red arc

W

Willie Joe says:

September 6, 2025 at 2:56 pm

I'm with you on that We are Mayo. An extra dose of white paint would do the trick - many of the markings on club pitches I've seen in recent weeks are a bit sparing on the paint so little wonder the arc is hard to see. Also I think that if we're now stuck with the new arc (which sadly we seem to be) then the other arc has to go. There's no need for it and it's adding greatly to the confusion. Getting rid of it altogether would make markings far cleaner and easy for everyone, officials included, to see.

M

Mayo Man for Life says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:05 pm

Seems a very unfair way to go out of the club Championship for HollyCarra….it was a clear and obvious error as they say to award to 2 pointer before half time.
Maybe in the interests of good neighbourly sports Kilmaine will offer to replay the game next weekend?
I’m sure the HollyCarra lads would appreciate the the offer even if the CB won’t permit it…..

Y

yew_tree says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:09 pm

Holly/Carra have lodged an appeal to the county board according to the Mayo News….

W

Willie Joe says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:16 pm

Here's that Mayo News report: https://www.mayonews.ie/news/gaa/1887970/hollymount-carramore-to-appeal-result-of-mayo-intermediate-championship-tie.html

I'd heard last night that this was in the works. The clear video evidence would suggest they have a strong case too.

O

Ontheroad13 says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:36 pm

Sure will we appeal every game where there are mistakes with the arc and 2 pointers that should or shouldn't have been given, we will have appeals every week, Hollymount/carramore had 2 frees in injury time and missed both, the worst decision of the game was that Barrett should have been awarded a 2nd penalty after he missed the 1st. If the 2 pointer was awarded in the last few mins maybe but it wasn't. Also kilmaine where the better team and should really have won tje the game.

T

Tonyten says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:38 pm

I can't believe we're potentially going down the replay route with the Holly/Kilmaine game. That there is such a an appetite amongst people on social media for it is galling.
A mistake was made, I've seen much more costly terrible refereeing decisions in games this year. If this game is replayed, no team will be able to celebrate a close win this year. It's a shame as the two point arc is a great addition to the sport. And Kilmaine were much more adventurous during the course of the 60 mins last night. To have it taken away from them would be so harsh

E

El Tod says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:40 pm

Agree Willie Joe no need for the other arc use the saved paint on the 40m arc
Either that or paint it yellow

T

The bruiser says:

September 6, 2025 at 3:42 pm

First thing about last night is how well the pitch was marked. We were talking about it at half time and the lines were really easy to see and no paint was spared in garrymore. However you can only see lines so far away. I was standing beside the club house half way between 20 and 45 m lines and on a hill but couldn't see lines the far half of the pitch. If you were down at pitch level it's even harder see. But the referee was positioned where he should have been able to see them and I say it was a matter of mixing up the lines/arcs

Once the score was given he stopped play and went to far end of field for an injury. You could hear him been challenged a few times about the score and him replying it was two points so he was fairly sure if his decision.

Near the end there was also an incident where kilmaine free was brought up 50 metres and he was insisting they couldn't bring it back out for 2 points. Kilmaine mentor kept into him and after a minute he allowed the fee to be taken out side the arc and they scored two points. Maybe one of his other officials communicated with him. Whether they did the same for the earlier 2 point effort don't know.

I don't think a replay should be granted but if the rule is clear cut then I suppose no option. If that's the decision then rule needs to be updated. I presume the purpose of the rule is if referee marked score for wrong team or didn't mark score at all. It wasn't meant for decision where ball was kicked from.

There have been a few similar incidents in mayo club games this year and as competitions get more competitive I wouldn't be surprised to see more appeals so so me e championships could turn into a mess

I really enjoyed the game last night. Hopefully today's games are as good

T

TsuDhoNim says:

September 6, 2025 at 4:46 pm

@Ontheroad13: None of the stuff mentioned there matters once the final whistle blows, for this game or any others (similarly, the call at the end of the Knockmore/Westport game wouldn't be grounds for an appeal despite having a comparable [significantly more really] level of impact on the game).

The question here is pretty simple (but sadly the answer isn't).
Was the score recorded incorrectly, or was it awarded incorrectly (which isn't grounds for appeal) and then recorded correctly?

A really messy one where it's splitting the finest of hairs on the nuances of language never intended to cover this scenario. You'd make a strong case for or against both interpretations. Happy to admit, my own view could (that it was recorded incorrectly) easily be clouded on what I think is the 'fairer' solution (where someone like Ed whose opinion I'd value would read it differently. It's certainly open for debate - despite the error itself being fairly crystal clear).

The examples set this year (e.g. in Fermanagh) about all we have to go on so far where replays were the call, so interesting to see if the precedent there holds.

The wording involved...
"(n) An Objection or Counter-Objection may only be upheld on the grounds
(i) that an Infraction has been proven that renders a Party liable to the Penalty of Forfeiture, with Award of the Game to the opposing Team
or
(ii) That it is proven that a score allowed during the course of the Game was either not recorded or incorrectly recorded by the Referee and that error had affected the result of the Game.
An Objection or Counter-Objection based on the Grounds that the Referee had incorrectly allowed or failed to allow a score during play shall be deemed to be out of order."

W

Willie Joe says:

September 6, 2025 at 5:13 pm

On the basis of that wording, it all seems to hinge on what's meant by "recorded" and "allowed" as the two provisions (i.e. (ii) and the wording at the end) directly contradict each other. One says an objection may be upheld if the ref either doesn't record or incorrectly record a score while the other says that an objection isn't valid if the ref incorrectly allows or fails to allow a score.

I wouldn't like to be adjudicating that one!

S

Supermac says:

September 6, 2025 at 5:17 pm

Yeah its a tricky one, im inclined to leave human error as a accepted risk of amateur game and leave it on the pitch but then again it wasn't my team affected and a year of work lost so I do sympathise with hollymount carra.

They will win an appeal too as precedent was recently set in high profile fermanagh div 1 final where 1 point efforts incorrectly called as ptrs and a replay ordered

W

Shrule coasted that and didn't need to go full hog to go thru. They're handy.

G

Green&red says:

September 6, 2025 at 7:30 pm

If we are going to talk about lodging appeals I’d say Belmullet can lodge several after tonight’s game. The most blatant one being a free given for a short kickout that was deemed to be collected inside the arc. A blind man could see it was outside the arc. Linesman, who was being blocked by both a Breaffy and Belmullet player called it. Very very questionable call.

I thought Breaffy got a serious rub of the green from ref today. A lot of very very soft tackles and frees given. Although in fairness Belmullet didn’t look like they knew how to kill Breaffy off midway through the second half. Nallen putting 3 kickouts in a row on top of Conor O’Shea didn’t make much sense.

Overall decent entertainment but luck was on Breaffy side for a lot of those 50/50 (at best) calls. Home venue for Breaffy in QF. Will be hard beaten up there!!

G

Green&red says:

September 6, 2025 at 7:37 pm

@ontheroad13

Yes a bit of luck needed, and your better off with a lucky general then a good one, but as a neutral today, I felt for Belmullet. Thank god they were through already. As for 2 weeks ago, yes Castlebar could claim they are out of the championship for a very bad call.

You’d expect on the law of averages these calls balance themselves out over the course of a championship but it doesn’t work out that way.

I feel there is a sense that Breaffy have to win the championship and it’s playing into the build up of every game. Does that mean refs are a bit more lenient on them?? Maybe, I don’t know, it might not be a fair thing to say.

But what I would say, if they don’t win this championship with the luck they have had so far, then I don’t know what the hell to think. It seems to be written in the stars for them.

Serious questions have to be asked about Mayo underage squads or Castlebar Mitchels or both. The Mitchels had 8 different players that were on the Mayo under 20 panel between 2022 and 2023. They have a host of others lads on minor panels since then as well. Were these players not good enough in the first place or have they simply not improved at all? Same question could be leveled at Claremorris and Westport. Something is seriously going wrong along the way.

W

Willie Joe says:

September 6, 2025 at 7:53 pm

Two more big SFC matches to come at 8pm - Ballaghaderreen v Ballintubber (on Mayo GAA TV) and Charlestown v Claremorris. I'll provide score updates here on both games.

S

Supermac says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:02 pm

Breaffys name must be on the cup because its a mystery how they topped that group having played poorly in all 3 games, and looking so insipid in attack. They seemed to use up all their luck and had a lot of help from refs in the 2 games I seen but you can't knock their resilience, they always hang in there and a home qf is huge for them now

W

Willie Joe says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:13 pm

Ballintubber are already well on the way to avenging last year's defeat to Ballaghaderreen. They're 2-6 to 0-3 up after 12 minutes. It's 0-2 apiece in the Charlestown/Claremorris game.

D

Driveitlong&hard says:

September 6, 2025 at 8:15 pm

Green&red just to follow on from your point. Yes, that kick out was definitely outside the line. The ref gave breaffy so many soft frees. He penalised belmullet twice for not hand passing the ball properly. The second one against against Howard was a disgraceful call.

ROD was clearly getting his jersey pulled in the first half over on the clubhouse side and he gave the free against him.

In the first half Deane kicked a free wide and the ref goes back and give a hop ball. Then gives breaffy another free.

The cards he gave to Ivers and EOD were extremely harsh.

How many times did the ref hop the ball as well?

Final point, belmullet lost their shape after Eoin o donoghue went off injured. I heard some people say it was a 50/50 tackle. But I was close enough to it, EOD was over the ball Neary came in late from the oppose direction and caught him on the side of the head/collar bone with his knee it looked like. . Neary then looks up at the ref sees his decision then lies back down feigning injury. A sign of guilt

Does anyone have stats on the free count in the game?

2-10 to 1-11 half-time between Ballintubber and Ballaghaderreen. Tubber's goals from Diarmuid O'Connor (or was the final touch an accidental one from David McBrien?) and Noel Geraghty, Ballagh's goal was a penalty from Kuba Callaghan. Two two-pointers each from Michael Plunkett and Kuba Callaghan.

11 wides to Breaffy 1 to Belmullet. I shudder to think of the football knowledge of people on here who could think Breaffy were the dirtier team. They won nearly every kickout in the second half. Unless Belmullet can be a bit more adventurous and not bring 11 behind the ball, they won't compete at the latter end of the championship.

Claremorris won by 2-13 to 0-16 in the other one so they're safe and it's Charlestown who head for the relegation play-offs.

Claremorris kicked a point inside the arc at the death and was given as a 2 pointer, Charlestown should go for the appeal seeing as it’s the trend now.

Fair play to Claremorris and Ballagh on their wins this evening , great win for both clubs

Surely if a score is recorded incorrectly, then the game has to be replayed. This is not a reffing error.
Imagine if a team were mistakingly awarded a goal
Instead of a point, there would be uproar.
What’s the difference between that scenario and what Happened last night? None

O

Ontheroad13 says:

Ya but a team getting rewarded a goal instead of a point literally never ever happens that would be a huge but very very rare mistake, the arc mistake has happened a number of times over the past few weekends during the championship.

Ardnaree got one against Ballinrobe
Garrymore against cross
Claremorris against Charlestown

I’m sure there is more examples
If a replay is granted things could get very messy in the future.

It was more than slightly ironic that it was absolutely impossible to make out any lines on the pitch in Hollymount this evening. The ref had an impossible job. A joke for a championship match . It was easy make out the drainage channels though 😀

AOS certainly cannot complain about not being protected from referees after todays game, it seemed every time a Belmullet player put his hand on him he got a free.. Breaffy certainly got all the 50/50 calls from the officials.. I'd love to know what the free count was for both teams... such a harsh call for the free from the kickout inside the arc, it looked like the ref just reacted to the Breaffy mgmt shouting at him and it seemed like the linesman was trying to tell the ref he was outside but he was having none of it and gave a free in anyway... as well as the advanced mark in the first half for Belmullet that the ref ignored that's a 2 point swing in Breaffys favour... feel sorry for Belmullet as they have probably been done out of a home quarter final

Was in Bekan at the Charlestown Claremorris game , Paul Towey again gave a majestic display of kicking 2 pointers but Claremorris overall just about deserved it as they had more in attack. Also their 2 pointer at the end to win it was well outside the arc , Dara Hurley who had replaced his brother Niall was almost on the sideline on the 45 when he launched it…good game overall in terrible conditions

I got to see Tuar mhic Éadaigh get another great win in Mayo Abbey followed by a quick dash to see a great match in Garrymore.
Ballagh made a great comeback after going
so far behind .
Kuba was great and is a super prospect for The Mayo team.
Diàrmuid o C was brilliant again and seems to be really enjoying his football.
Cillian was a non starter.
A super game with a very high standard of football and as good as I have seen this year here in Galway.

While I welcome most of the rule changes, I did say at the outset that I could see this 2 point arc causing controversy and this is exactly what is happening and with alarming frequency and, as sure as night follows day, it will cause major controversy, sooner or later, in an All Ireland Final. I was very lukewarm about it in the first place and am still not convinced. With the obvious frequency of errors and the clear difficulty in officiating it, it really does need to be seriously looked at. If is is found to be unworkable, it needs to be dropped, no matter how many people are in love with it. And, for the love of God, get rid of the 2 point free-how this has been retained beggars belief.

The standard of refereeing is just not good enough for the importance of what is at stake for players. Way too many inconsistencies. They are keeping up with play but just not seeing (or wrongly calling) two pointers. It has happened numerous times this weekend alone - in Garrymore and Bekan. I have played and officiated and it is not that difficult for a ref/lines person/umpire to keep up with these things. That is what you are there to do!

Thought towey was poor last night. Numerous pot shots that ended up closer to the sideline than the posts, and Darragh Fitzpatrick didn't give him a sniff from play otherwise.

Claremorris and mitchels the two best underage teams in recent years and showing it'll take time for them to progress. Westport similarly could be out today as well. Shows how crossmolina's explosion at senior level is just very irregular.

Thought Darragh Beirne's goal was unbelievable last night, even if Claremorris refuse to kick any decent ball into him no matter the circumstances. Great to see an 18 year old screaming at his defence in the last 5+ minutes of the game though, definitely told them what he thought about their defending / general play when they let a 3 point lead slip going into injury time. Thought he showed good leadership getting on the ball and driving them up the patch after.
Shout out to Mark Noonan, for a 17 year old who started in leaving cert last week he played the full game and popped up with a crucial score down the stretch for Claremorris.

A very poor referring decision against Breaffy ultimately cost Castlebar.

Tonyten who said breaffy were dirtier? It wasn’t a dirty match. There were three cards issued in the game. Ivers was given one for a push in the back.

Yeah they won the majority of the kick outs in the second half. But they were rudderless up front. None of their forwards could score from play in the second half

But the matter of fact is the ref gave breaffy absolutely loads of soft frees and literally none to belmullet. As mentioned previously the second O’Shea touched the ball the ref put out his hand for advantage.

Belmullet one side was for a sideline.

If I was guessing the free count in this game I’d say it was 20+ frees to breaffy probably 8 to belmullet

Have to laugh at the calls that AOS was getting easy frees, lads hanging out of him all his playing days and it was one of the rare occasions that a ref was on top of it.

Belmullet only have themselves to blame for not getting home advantage. They looked extremely impressive in the 2nd quarter of the match, some excellent movement and they worked the ball to ROD very well during that period. But they didn't show up for the 2nd half, EOD was a loss but they the only scored 3 times in the 2nd half, twice from frees and the only point, a 2 pointer, from play was a complete fluke as a long ball into the full forward sailed over the bar.

The late free was for picking it up off the ground I thought, rather than for collecting it inside the arc.

Breaffy were impressive around the middle and controlled the second half but we're way too slow and deliberate in attack. I would expect much much more from a team who's management fancied their chances at intercounty level. They have to seriously improve in attack to get any further.

The two big towns Swinford and Kiltimagh haven’t impressed so far.

Don’t know what has happened to Killala. Seems shambolic, are they the only club across all levels to be on zero points after 4 games?

These calls were not given on both sides. I also attended the Bellmullet v Breaffy game in Ballina last night. The calls that were give against Bellmullet were unbelievable . I left the ground thinking , is there an agenda in Mayo by refs to hand Aidan O Shea a Mayo Championship medal. Breaffy have been beaten in a lot of Finals.

Chick 79

I wouldn’t like to indulge into conspiracy theories regarding AOS and refs but I really do wonder what my own eyes see sometimes. I watched him in the county semi final last year and everyone time a player looked at him it was a free. Got some very soft ones yesterday too.

Now I want to be clear, I’m not criticising AOS in any way, but it looks to me as if officials are nearly trying to be his friend on the field. There is a reason why the inter county refs don’t buy it, the refs in mayo want to keep him happy (or at least that what it looks like).

You would feel with the luck Breaffy have had so far this year that it’s written in the stars for them. Home QF should be a straight forward win.

But no doubt about it, reffing needs to improve in this county. Even watching some of the games today. Players put in way too much work all year for really sub par officiating. A bit like the premier league, this is a weekend to forget for the mayo refs!

I agree totally with you it’s absolutely nothing to do with AOS. He has been a great player at Club and County for years. I do think the refs in Mayo are very poor. But don’t like running them down either.
I also believe the GAA have made it very hard on Refs with the policing of the new rules at Club level. They are fine at County level . Where you have 4th officials etc. From what I have seen in Mayo Championship I can’t see Breaffy wining it out. But
They are still in with a chance. Knockmore , Ballina, going for 3 in a row. Bellmullet, Crossmolina, and Westport look good at the moment. Not to mention old stagers Ballintubber , all of these will have a big say in the competition yet. Hoping for a few good matches in closing rounds and that we are not still talking about unfair refs decisions deciding the Championship eventual winners.

Sam og, ideally that's what would happen but I think it's winner on the day. So to allow for penalties etc second game would have to start at 5:00. Therefore first game would have to be 2:30/3 and I can't see that happening on Saturday. Last year garrymore had home quarter final and that was under lights so allowed extra time.

I'm thinking two at same time Saturday and then 2 on Sunday (hope knockmore and crossmolina so can get to both)
