Club Championship – handy links

Club Championship – handy links

Another weekend of club Championship action is upon us – I’m hitting the road west myself shortly – and here are a few links to help you navigate your way through the matches taking place.

A list of all the weekend’s fixtures is here.

The links for match tickets for all the weekend’s ties are here.

All of the weekend’s team sheets are here.

Details of the games being covered by Mayo GAA TV this weekend are here and the link for buying matches passes to these game is here.

If you’re still considering buying a Mayo GAA season ticket pass (if so, it still represents good value), the link for that is here.

Mayo GAA TV’s season pass is also still available (and that too still makes sense to get if you haven’t already done so) – the link for that is here.

Over on the podcast, we’ll have a show up later on covering tonight’s games, another one tomorrow night covering all of the Saturday action and a full review pod on Sunday night. We’ll also have our Senior and Intermediate Teams of the Week out on Monday.

Very low scoring for new rules in Castlebar/Breaffy draw.

What the hell are our lads been coached when a county forward misses an open goal because he cannot kick it into an empty net with his weaker side from no more that 3m out. It's shocking.

Zzzzzzzz crikey the lack of sharp shooters is not good . We can talk till the cows come home about all the other stuff from fundraising to divisional sides or whatever ( tbh I think we are going way ott and been too deep lately ) but if you can’t find lads who can score and off both feet , the new game is going to be a problem .

Just watched the Castlebar v Breafy match on MayoGAA. A poor enough contest 12 each a draw.
I bought the €110.00 package but unfortunately there web page is woeful and impossible to navigate. It has not been updated in years!
Lucky that WJ had a link up on the blog otherwise I was looking at 2023 matches!
Surely we as customers deserve better stakeholder service/focus from MayoGAATV.

In fairness a great service but the website is outdated and not fit for purpose!

West is best it’s fookin wild , it’s like mayo footballers think scoring is the last skill , our mindset is so weird ,we’re not too bad at almost everything else but come scoring forwards , we are so bottom of the shit pile .

The PRO was referring in ballyhaunis and when he went to start the game he realised he had no whistle.

I know it's easy knock people and we all make mistakes but that's very amateurish similar to the mayo TV website etc

Not hectic at the PRO job (McStay Statement debacle)

Not hectic at the ref job (no whistle)

Time for change

John MacMonagle best player on the pitch by a long way tonight, marked AOS out of it in 2nd half, Ruane was definitely injured. V poor game overall. Ref was very generous to Breaffy

The Mayo GAA TV has moved to inplayer two or 3 years now at this stage I think so doubt to many get caught out that are on any of the social media platforms as in fairness they post the links regularly.
Easiest thing is to do is save inplayer link to your favourites: https://page.inplayer.com/mayogaa/

Game tonight was disappointing, Breaffy despite having an arguably stronger squad seem to be going backwards the last two years.

It would be helpful if they would remove the old Web site address and make it easier for people like mise!

G

Gizmobobs says:

Very true, I would have thought that wouldn't be a big job alright, WJ probably know ins and outs of it, but thought if owned a domain you could cull it fairly quickly as it does cause confusion.
Or at least get it hidden some way as it may be needed again if they change service provider.

T

TsuDhoNim says:

@Gizmobobs: In this case the 'ideal' solution would be setting up a 301 redirect to the active InPlayer page so Mayo GAA can still point links at the 'TV' domain they own (keeping control of the SEO benefits of links generated down the line if they ever choose to move away from StreamSports &/or take a more active role in using that site for marketing and promotion). As a user it just means if you went to the current 'bad' URL it'd automatically bring you to the correct site to make a purchase or view the games.

As you imagined, it would only take a couple of minutes (including the time to look up a guide specific to wherever the site is hosted).

J

Jr says:

Mayo GAA have a very effective system for joining their Draw but a terrible results portal and now it seems a poor TV system, but maybe they don't control it.

The “big name” games often end up being bore fests. As I said MayoGAATV need to start showing more clubs instead of the same few.

to win just once says:

August 22, 2025 at 10:29 pm

I thought when the club championship started we’d be seeing loads of attacking football with players kicking loads of 2 pointers, the sort of thing that was allegedly frowned upon by Mayo management. Watching the game tonight, I am afraid the real issue is player quality. However it’s only one game (admittedly 2 relatively strong clubs) and one can only hope for a vast improvement in quality of the other games over the weekend. If not, then Andy will seriously have to start working miracles

New pod up on Patreon in which we cover this evening's club championship games.

I know the cameras weren't there to capture it but I think I pulled the game of the evening at Ballyhaunis where Garrymore battled back from eight down at the break to win by 2-13 to 2-11.

Watched Breaffy Castlebar. It’s so nice to be able to watch a game of football on a Friday evening after a week of work so credit to both teams.

The game itself was fairly average and a draw overall seemed fair. For Breaffy they are so reliant on AOS and as good as he can be, he’s not David Clifford in the scoring stakes. Neary is working hard and wining turnovers but I don’t know if he’s scored from play in 2 games now. Conor OShea I felt was very good tonight. Seemed to drive his team up the pitch plus got a precious 2 pointer

For Castlebar some good passages of play particularly the one where Morahan just tore up the Breaffy defence and I think JDurcan slotted it over. McMonagle I’m a big fan of but I do think his good moments are a little exaggerated. He had 1 excellent turnover on AOS but 2 others where he was in vicinity of but error came down to OShea himself.. McMonagle is very steady and assured tho and wasn’t caught out physically either tonight

@roco88, McMonagles moments are a thing of wonder, turned a lot of ball over in breaffy main men. Last best man marker and tackler since Keegan. Yet to see an upcoming defender as great as he is.

Was in Cong at The Neale vs Kilmeena. Brilliant game with the best team losing. The Neale through away a 7 point lead with 7 minutes to play. Inexperience in giving the ball away for a goal and could not stem them tide of Kilmeenas hard runners. They really need to question not changing up kickouts. They landed every kickout to the same area where they were getting wiped out. Had to change it up. Kilmeena when let play were excellent but the neale will see this as a missed opportunity and championship ambitions more or less finished. Robbie Hughes was simply magic for The Neale.

Andy Moran was in cong for The Neale v Kilmeena game, obviously to watch Jack Carney, Tommy Conroy and Tom Lyndon. But it was a younger called Robbie Hughes from the Neale who delighted the crowd with 6 points from play, every one of them had to be contested. No easy shots for him. For Kilmeena, when the need was greatest in the second half, midfielder Kevin Ryder was majestic. Kilmeena have not gone away and look like a team that could regain past glories again quickly.

Very poor second half in the Castlebar v Breaffy game. Breaffy dominated around the middle but no cutting edge up front. Castlebar a lot of young lads with pace up front, kicked some nice scores but never troubled the goal. Can see why the Castlebar supporters were up in arms with some calls late on , they were very strange indeed. Both teams still in it and might be in the mix at the end but they will have to improve. Still any 2 of the 4 teams can get through.

If 2 teams finish level on points is it the Head to Head or the score difference that decodes who is first and who is second

S

Size 5 says:

August 23, 2025 at 1:57 pm

If its two teams it goes to head to head. If their game was a draw then it's their overall score difference in the group.
If three teams are tied then it's score difference in the games they played against each other and not the entire group. I think!
