Any idea re junior draw ?

Aghamore v Ballyhaunis a shocker too, no way did I see such a pairing ever happening.

There’s still another round to go next weekend in Group 1 of the Junior, Mike H, so the draw there has to wait for that to conclude.

Belmullet v cross will be some game too, belmullet are used to the crossmolina pitch and they will fancy rattling some of the crossmolina young guns.

- Conditions were poor enough today but Westport should have more scores on the board to reflect the amount of possession they had.
- O'Malley had some terrific catches at midfield. Opportunity now for revenge against Breaffy after last year's loss in a downpour.

Ontheroad13 Eoin O'Donoghue be a huge loss for them if out.they struggled with Breaffy runners through middle after he went off in particular, nevermind Crossmolina ones.
Probably the draw most affected by home advantage, would be completely different scenario for me if Bellmullet were at home for this one, they be even more annoyed about yesterday's game now.

Wonder what odds you would get on the 4 runners up getting to the semis? Cases to be made for each of them, however home.advantage makes a difference. Great draw all the same, wide open championship.

Weather will have a massive say in next round. Has interest in club championship ever been at this level before.? Listeners to the various pods etc would suggest that its never been higher. Or is just the lack of inter County. Personally I'm loving the club championship. Would prefer it at this stage

Can any of the Crossmolina, Knockmore, Breaffy or Ballagh grounds hold a game under lights?
Would love to see Knockmore and Crossmolina games the same day for all neutrals to travel to North Mayo to get the 2 matches.

@James Fleming
Glad for Cross especially Conor Loftus. They are some team .
Though where Ballyhaunis poor ? I didn't see that game as was concentrating on the Ballina game .
For me Cross do look like the favourites to win it this year . Though still wouldn't write off knockomore or Ballina just yet.
With Breaffy I'll always doubt them till they do it . I'd be happy if they won it though for Aido .

Unfortunately none of them do and I don’t think any of the intermediate clubs do either but I stand to be corrected on that….
Relegation semis best chance of games under lights??

Think the outright winners will come from the Ballaghdereen v Ballina game.two evenly matched teams that at peak of powers.
Clare says:
September 7, 2025 at 9:42 pm
@Aidan
I hope your right and obviously I hope that's in Ballinas favour . I thought they did well today after that defeat to Cross. Garrymore are not bad side .

Wow this championship got a whole pile spicer .
Cross Belmul will.ve a good battle but Eoin O D is a massive loss and would expect Cross to have a little too much for them and tag on enough scores to win .
Ballahadreen v Ballina is the draw of all draws should be class game .
So hard to call, many will tip Balla just to have a better scoring presence but think Frank Irwin, Murray and Thornton win too much primary and form Irwin is in he's too hot to handle for anyone and ya Ballina will win.
Think Westport will have too much running power and presence inside for Breaffy, then with Matty not at his best dont think Breaffy will match Westport in midfield , too much fire fighting for AOS to do .
Knockmore v Tubber , will see seriously sore bodies the day after ... Tubber should win most primary ball and with this starstudded halfback line should create plenty, but not sure they have sharp enough of fullforward line to see it out, but if Knockmore s defense can get on top then Mchale and Naughton should tag on enough scores .

Clare says:

' Ballina were there for taking ' well we still won and where the better team for most of that game Garrymore weren't good enough at the end of the day . .

Kiltane look the business this year at Intermediate, nice balanced team ..
Ballinrobe don’t seem to have progressed this year .
Moy Davitts should have too much for them at home .

@Sam Og, while I get the potential appeal of a quarter final under lights, it would be madness to do it imo. Lights (outside of McHale Park anyway) can only bring in the potential for more errors. I don't think the ref (who was pretty close to the kicker) makes that mistake in daylight.

This ongoing perception of Matt ruane not being at his best in midfield is very strange.on a good day mattie has a scoring threat but has practically zero ball winning ability and is very unlikely to develop that at this stage.

@Clare - We? I remember you telling us that you're not from Ballina and are actually from a different club?
Where does the "we" come in with Ballina haha

@unstopable
No need for that . I'm from Killala but my heart is with Ballina and I've always shouted for Ballina . Alot from Killala do shout for Ballina. Of course I shout for Killala to but as I said loads in Killala support Ballina .

Such fine margins in GAA competitions, with only a few mins to go yesterday , Kilmovee were topping their group and getting a home QF , at the final whistle they found themselves bottom of the group and out of junior A till 2026 .

Home advantage is massive for the Qtrs, fully expect 3 home wins minimum in Senior and intermediate, but which 3 is why there are few poor bookies out there, An extra 30mins between throw ins would have made it a little easer to get to a lot of matches, hopefully no speed traps on sunday Knockmore to crossmolina to Bangor

Clare you are from killala but your heart is in ballina is a very strange comment.it’s like saying you are from mayo but your heart is in Galway.i no longer live in mayo but my heart will always be there.why would “ loads” from killala support ballina
Clare says:

Fair enough clare although I don’t need to get over anything where that’s concerned but I can’t imagine anyone from Charlestown swinford or ballagh supporting their rival teams
Clare says:
September 8, 2025 at 8:28 pm
@1985
Killala would support Ballina as alot in Killala work in Ballina . They would of course support Killala in the lower division but once they are out they would support Ballina . Also some do go and play for Ballina from Killala .
It's just the way it is .

Clare says:

@Tubberman
I'm not digging at all. Just don't see why I need to explain myself to why I support a certain club bit ridiculous .
Sean Burke says:
September 9, 2025 at 1:03 pm
You don’t need to explain yourself , you take it on yourself to explain . Id often want ballagh to do well in championship, it’s the nearest big town club . Absolutely nothing wrong with you supporting Ballina in the race for moclair cup .
Clare says:
September 9, 2025 at 1:23 pm
@Sean Burke
Thanks!
I'd say Ballagh will knock out Ballina anyway .
