Believe

seaofgreenandred

The day has finally arrived, the day on which we get to see two Mayo teams contesting All-Ireland titles, the day on which we hope to experience a day like no other.

There are just the hours left to count down now, though with the minor decider throwing in at 1.15pm there isn’t all that much in the way of counting down to do before we get sucked into the maelstrom that is All-Ireland final day, a rollercoaster that we can all hope and believe will end in silverware on the double for us.

If you’re going to be there at HQ today, shout your heart out; if you can’t, shout anyway as sound carries further than you can imagine especially on a day like today. Wherever you are in the world today – and there are, I know, so many who are far further away from the environs of Croke Park than they’d want to be today – you can be sure that we’re all, in some shape or form, in this together, urging our two great All-Ireland final teams onto glory.

We can do this, we will do this.

Believe.

Well, JH has been saying it all year. And he's right. Quite simple, "we move on". This time, to glory.

Great article and great blog Willie Joe, brought the kids (10 to 18) to the man himself (Willie Joe Padden) legends tour in Croke Park yesterday), only one ticket for match). Anyway 14 year old brought the holy water provided by my Dad ages ago (from Knock) and sprinkled liberally around the Mayo dressing room.

Have been texting all my friends all year ;

Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero – Fatum

It was first quoted by the Roman poet Horace;

"Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow (/the future)"

"Fatum" then is an apt appendage "Destiny"

I will be found on the Nally terrace today proudly displaying my new banner (a reference to Keith Duggan's book about Mayo)

This is my sixth finals to attend and it's the strangest thing but I'm as calm as the waters on Pontoon on the most beautiful day you can imagine - Something feels very different - its like what Dan Martin said about winning his stage in the Tour de France 'you have to be prepared to lose it in order to win it ' So let's go for it and whatever happens we will still be proud of two teams who have brought us on another great journey in 2013 !

Up Mayo !
