Andy Moran was tonight formally ratified by Mayo GAA as the new Mayo manager. As was flagged in advance, Andy is being joined on his management team by Colm Boyle and Paddy Tally.
Speaking with RTÉ’s Marty Morrissey tonight following his formal ratification (here), Andy was his usual forthright self. He stressed that the “key thing is to get the best players in Mayo playing for Mayo” and noted that over the last few years this “mightn’t have always been the case.”
With tonight’s formal ratification, the 2017 Footballer of the Year is now the man charged with maximising the talents available within the county and getting us back competing strongly on the national stage. Mayo fans everywhere will wish him and his management team well in their endeavours.
We’ll have a bonus episode of the Mayo Football Podcast from tonight’s Mayo GAA meeting in Castlebar up on Patreon later on.

No guarantee any of them will return.
Club championship might throw up a few newbies..
Can’t see Andy picking on past performances

It'll be an open door policy I'd say. Great for the lads who thought they'd never get a look-in beforehand. A new broom etc.

O"Hora insulted the group in Omagh
He will be doing well to get a sniff

It has been proven time and again that O'Hora isn't at the level required. Why do people on here constantly call for him return to the panel??
Cillian and Carr are different gravy.

@MO2023: Lads like Gibbons, Harrison, McHale, Callaghan, Fallon, Henry, Doherty, Byrne, Walsh, Orme, McCormack, Regan, Moran, Treacy, Hennelly, McLaughlin, Loftus, Plunkett, Hopkins, Disken, Dempsey, Healy, Heneghan, Boland, Carolan, Reape, Irwin, Durcan, O'Shea or Murray would all be fairly relevant to some of the comments made.
I wouldn't be able to narrow it down to applying to such a small number and I'd be surprised if it was intended that tightly by Andy or Colm. More a rallying cry for a clean slate and an opportunity for anyone, even if they've been in among the panel before and let go, to earn it if they work hard enough & produce the form.
New rules, new game, new strengths and weaknesses will show or be exploited and we'll (hopefully) see new lads put their hand up high for selection. We'll all have the odd player that we'd expect might push given their natural attributes based on recent years, but hard to predict who'll actually drive on and make it stick this year with so much of the game and tactics of recent years tweaked. I'd suggest there's never been a better chance for a bolter to push their way into panel consideration and even into a Championship 26 or 15 this year.

Congratulations to Andy, open door policy is way to go, I don't know about O Hora but he good on TV.
COC might have something to offer but he was past his best 2 years ago, so from bench maybe unless years rest give him a new lease.
AOS has been a great servant, but youth is were we need to build from, if there lads are starting than it will be more of the same

It's time for youth ,guys that didn't want to play for mayo last year should be told they have to prove themselves to be good enough to join the group next year, let the club championship play out and then pick the best players I am a great believer in youth
